Bargaining

January 13, 2025 by J.B.

Two things I know about chimps:

1. Whatever it is, they will find a way to break it.

2. If you want something from them, they will give it to you…for a price.

Ellen has been coming up with some really cool food puzzles lately. One, named the hanging holey lid, involves a 5-gallon bucket lid that the chimps have to rotate to reveal food beneath. The chimps discovered that the lids come with thin peel-off strips around their circumference, and they were very entertained by peeling them off and using them to floss their teeth. There’s nothing particularly dangerous about these strips of plastic but they weren’t meant to be given to the chimps so we decided to retrieve them.

Most chimps will trade for juice. But Cy had to raise the stakes…

    Smart thinking, Krissy!
I was in a panic , saying “Get Dora’s first, before she eats it!”

Without fail these bubs always keep you on your toes and sure enough today’s activities were no exception. Mind you, you also keep them on their toes as they never know what enrichments will come their way from one day to the next and how they can access those treats.Good one, Krissy with the juice bargaining to Cy and I loved that touch at the end of the clip with that magazine bring very casually perused. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Cy! I guess you don’t become the big cheese by sipping on sweet drinks. Instead, one needs to expand the mind…..and stay on top fashion and celeb goings-on!

He can’t resist his glossies! Love how they all gathered round to study the sticker removal technique.

Oh, Cy! You certainly are a sly one! He really loves his magazines more than anything else. There’s not many out there that would turn down a sip of juice, but Cy knows how to play the long game!
I received a wonderful letter with a picture of beloved Farmer Jo today. Really brightened by day.
