Distractions

November 25, 2024 by J.B.

Sometimes, while cleaning, I can hear George Costanza saying, “We’re making incredible time!” Patting myself on the back, I begin to think about all of the things we can get done with a few extra minutes before lunch all the snacks I could eat from the snack cupboard while taking a leisurely break. But then I hear the faint sound of breathy laughter. I leave my bucket and scrub brush to investigate…

Chimps playing! I’ll just film a minute or two for the blog.

Forty minutes later, I return to my half-cleaned enclosure, snackless, and running behind on lunch prep once again.

If you’re hearing breathy laughter the odds are Burritto is involved. He’s like the energizer bunny er, chimp. After all these years J.B. is not immune from it. What a wonderful reason to get behind on your chores. Thanks for the laughter. It is contagious.

I know everyone know this, but, it is all the more tragic that, when they were used for research, the chimps were kept isolated, in cages, when they crave, and, thrive, on social life, and, companionship.

Wow, Missy Enjoyed his company all day long! I love at the end when she’s on top of the structure with him and she’s ready for some more!

I also love the look of admonishment, she gave you when you dropped the squeegee or the mop, or whatever that was.

E-P-I-C! Ridiculously epic play session. It even continues to the outside! I simply love the way these two stop all shenanigans instantly when they hear something (you?), and they stare into the camera, expressionless, totally deadpan, as if to say “What?! Nothing going on here.”!

May I ask you a question, J.B.? How do you ever get anything done when you are surrounded by comedians, athletes, scholars, fashionistas, doll aficionados, den mothers, and one actual Queen?! My advice to you? Chew gum, you’re never gonna have time for that well deserved snack.

If you’re going to chew gum, however, you must bring enough to share! I know a very Lucky lady who would appreciate a stick or two!
