One Nest, Two Nest, Red Nest, Blue Nest

October 26, 2024 by Krissy Brasfield

We have nests.  Every day, we have nests.  So many nests.  We have big nests, little nests, messy nests, tidy nests.  We have nests made exclusively with blankets. We have nests made with dolls, boots, paper, seeds, toys, firehose, books and magazines.  We have sparse nests, elaborate nests, stinky nests, flat nests, tall nests, cozy nests, double nests.

Most of our nests are made by the chimps, but sometimes we caregivers like to make nests.  Most of our chimps use nests, but some, like our little Foxie, prefer no nest.  Regardless of the type of nest each chimp chooses (or doesn’t), rest assured they are sleeping safe and snug like bugs in a rug!

Speaking of nests, my super cozy nest is calling to me RIGHT NOW!

I hope you, too, have a cozy nest to retire to.  Have a fabulous weekend!

you can tell which ones are Jamie’s! I love the nod to the knotted line on the scooter at the end! I also love seeing blankets that I’ve sent in being used!

Wow, you could create a wonderful, colorful calendar of 12 months of nesting. I assume you have an industrial size washer and dryer for all those blankets every day.

Wow! This is fascinating, thank you so much for sharing this compilation of coziness! I was thinking how each nest is like a sculpture. I could see a gallery show of nothing but nests…. And people could walk around each one to study them from different angles. The colors, textures, and extra embellishments—really beautiful works of art. I love this post, Krissy!

And who intricately tied the scooter to their nest?! I want to guess Jamie because I know she ties her nests to the mesh in her favorite place (and I believe I caught a glimpse of her little blue base station) but I’m really curious who the artist was! My second guess would be Honey B.

    Sweet dreams everyone!!

Wow! Some absolutely spectacular nests! I’m assuming that last one was Jamie’s? You can really tell her nests from the amount of time she takes with them.

Japanese primatologists studying apes in Mahale, Tanzania tried sleeping in the nests of wild chimp and found them incredibly comfy, so they teamed up with a designer company a few years ago and created a nest-shaped sleeping sofa called ‘Human Evolution Bed’. Looks cool and super comfortable.

Definitely a work of art and I would be hard pressed to pick a “winner” in this eclectic selection of nests. Each nest seems to reflect the chimp’s personality and the colours are amazing. Do any of the chimps ever try to steal bedding from each other’s nest or even share their nest with a pal? Yes, indeed as Gaynell says an industrial size washer/dryer is certainly a necessity!! Thanks for sharing .

I’m guessing the one with two night stands, a mug and People magazine was Cy’s, just a guess…
Love how neat some of those were and the anti theft device on the scooter was brilliant!

Really cool beds! :monkey:?? Would have liked to know who’s bed is who’s (if known)?
