Today, part time caregiver Dusty set up a table and chairs for a bunch of Foxie’s dolls, and filled the cups with Gatorade. The results are pretty sweet (or creepy, you be the judge!). Foxie, for sure, was thrilled to enjoy a refreshing beverage with her friends.
Even Jamie enjoyed some time at the tea table. Although, she has some opinions about who can, and cannot, have a seat at the table.
How sweet.
I think maybe a hair conditioner is in order for some of those babies
you are not wrong!
Sometimes, Fox, that Gatorade just hits right! 🙂
Who left my tiny friend with a scratch on her face!?
I wanted to post this the other day, but didn’t want to kill the vibe of the tribute to Annie. If you’re not inerested in the advocacy part, pls just scroll past my tirade here.
There’s a pretty popular channel called “Daily Dose of Internet” that posts compilations of (mostly) feel-good videos that are sent to him or that he finds. A few months ago, he posted one of the “reunion after 6 months {bologna} between Limbani and the couple who raised him for the petting zoo where he lives/works (their channel is missty flower monkeys on YT, but they’ve put all Limbani content behind a paywall). At that time, I posted a comment to him and answers to many ohers in the chat who called it “wholesome” that this wasn’t a story to feel good about, and mentioned the accessible article at quartz . com about animals in captivity on social media. Some of those comments disappeared.
Well, this week, Thursday, he posted it again, claiming they hadn’t seen Limbani in TEN years this time (Limbani isn’t even 10). I posted again in the comments, unsubscribed, but am pretty sure that he knows at this point that it’s a petting zoo, and is just including the repeated video for views.
I’d love a way to reach him or put this issue on blast, but am not on Twitter, FB, or Insta. But if anyone is and is so inclined, ferl free to ask him why he continues to support that, and inorm his viewers about the real story behind that “wholesome” video.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks, Linda, for your efforts in attempting to explain why pet ownership of chimps is not something anyone should support. i am not on any spcial media, but the Zoom calls every Tuesday after the Sunday episide of Chimp Crazy are now on YouTube (except episode 1,). I hope people will watch them even if they did not watch the HBO program.
It’s incredibly frustrating. I get Limbani’s videos recommended to me on Instagram sometimes. It’s a double eged sword. Commenting = engagement, but you also want to inform people… I worry what happens to Limbani as he gets older. He needs to be in a sanctaury.
oh, I made that decision to inform people a while ago. 🙂
But I want him to be challenged on either Instagram or Twitter (or someplace where he can’t hide behind the excuse of “not seeing the comment”) and ask him why he keeps supporting the petting zoo
Linda, ugh, I didn’t know about Limbani the chimpanzee. All the more reason for everyone to contact their representatives regarding the urgency to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act (S.4206) that was introduced by Senator Blumenthal. We need to get this act moving!
I googled Limbani. Fortunately, the very first story, right below Limbani’s Instagram link, was a link to the Dodo from 2018. Their portrayal of Limbani truthfully breaks down his horrible situation. Even better, the Dodo interviews North America Primate Sanctuary Alliance (NAPSA) then Program Director, the amazing Erika Fleury, to put everything into perspective. Linda, you should post this link. 😉

Yes, Kathleen, thanks, but YT doesn’t allow one to post links any longer, unless it’s to a YT video. I can cite the sources, but people will have to search and read, and so many are lazy.
I guess my thought was, if he had 15 clips on that compilation, only the people interested in the chimp video would see the comment. But with the number of people using IG, FB, and X, if someone posted to him asking him why he supports petting zoos, he’d be forced to address it, and as a minimum, the word would get out/educate people about it, and they educate others, etc.
Ironically, The Dodo is partly responsible for Limbani’s fame, bc initially they fell for the “his mom couldn’t care for him” story, and published the first “happy reunion” video. They don’t acknowledge it in their articles, but they inadvertently participated in it (the way I did years ago, wgen I marveled over a hound and an orangutan, who’s now nowhere to be seen…).
Limbani’s situation is an absolute tragedy. If you look at photos of the actual place he lives, it’s a dingy, small cage, where he’s only taken out for photo ops and videos. It’s absolutely repulsive – florida’s animal welfare laws are awful and it’s just another disgusting roadside zoo, unfortunately 🙁
I was almost expecting a pinky up! She appears to enjoy the unusual company!
What fun for Foxie, having all her wild hair babies for tea.
The tea party reminds me of the Twilight Zone but I love it! Foxie looks very pleased to be sipping with her favorite dolls. So does Jamie. Yummmm, Gatorade. Excellent idea Dusty. I hope Neggie came down from her nest to sip with the girls.
What an interesting if slightly surreal tea party! I half expected one of the dolls to start talking as they intently “watched” Foxie around the table. Kind of creepy in a way, but a nice way.Foxie appeared very dignified and gracious daintily sipping her gatorade drink and I loved the way Jamie dismissed the unwanted tea party guest. You guys are the tops in coming up with enrichment ideas and I’m sure Foxie and Jamie enjoyed their tea time. :sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart:
What a delightful. dainty ladies tea party.
Aww! Foxie having a tea party with her dolls is just too cute! Jamie, too, although it seems she was more selective with which guests were on the guest list!
Love the delicate way Foxy handles her cup, this was a delight even if Jamie did rearrange the guest list a bit…
This is the epitomy of heartwarming. I love her so much!
