The Summer Melt

July 18, 2024 by Anna

‘Tis the season for laying low and keeping cool. With an expected high of 96 degrees today, the sanctuary is on the brink of a Heat Weather Advisory for this coming weekend. The chimps in response have melted into fuzzy puddles all around the chimp house.

Gordo:

Dora:

Despite the heat, spirits remain high. Here’s Rayne and her sweet, glistening face:

Mave visiting the “water cooler” trough for some hydration:

Burrito still seems to have as much energy as ever:

Toy goes on head, signaling time to play:

Anna, I don’t know how you do it (Maybe it’s because at CSNW it’s Christmas in July!), but even on hot summer days the chimps always look cool and comfortable and most importantly, thoroughly content. Everyone receives the best of care no matter the weather.

The summer heat has been beating me down. I guess I need a pink bunny to put on my head to cool me off! Stay silly Burrito. Stay silly!

    Hi, Anna!
Toasty here and humid, but I’ll be happy for the breeze!
I remember in the video from the other day, I could hear the BAF going. Thanks again to all who crowdfunded that, and I believe it was Betsy’s idea to get that funding done that way. Hope Burrito isn’t running everyone around the hill!

Love to see everyone beating the heat, although I wonder how Bubba stays cool with all of that energy! Between playing with Burrito and patrols with Jamie, I imagine being a caregiver works up a sweat!
