Today is Honey B’s 35th birthday! We celebrated by having a “contraband” themed birthday party (all things that they normally wouldn’t get) because one of Honey B’s greatest pleasures in life is when the humans mess up and leave something in the enclosures, such as a scrub brush. If you’re new to the blog, Honey B is the queen of obtaining contraband (check this hose heist video for a reminder). Therefore for her birthday, we intentionally left cleaning items inside (nothing dangerous, obviously) for her to “find”. The chimps also enjoyed a popcorn forage and a delicious lunch forage which included pasta, two of Honey B’s favorite foods.
Honey B is a spunky, intelligent, often unpredictable chimpanzee and while that keeps us caregivers on our toes, it makes things that much more fun around here as well.

Excellent theme!! 🙂 It’s wonderful seeing HB enjoying all of her birthday surprises! She’s a great squeegee cleaner. And an excellent pasta eater — four paper boats full (everything tastes better in a paper boat!). Happy to see there was some left over for Rayne and Lucky! (Speaking of Rayne and Lucky…..Wow, the artwork of them is amazing! I want to bid on all of them.) I enjoyed listening to the popcorn crunching, food squeaks, and pasta smacking as much as I enjoyed the visuals.

Whaddya mean, “Honey B, you’re not supposed to have that”? Why, if those shiftless farmhands at her country estate would attend to their home maintenance duties, Miss Beans wouldn’t have to spend her birthday scrubbing the floor! It’s just hard to find good help these days…

Love the theme, Jenna! To be honest, I was also expecting some decaf coffee, since “contraband” must be how they discovered in the first place that she loves it! She loved it–I noticed she sacrificed a cup of whatever that was to Mave in order to make sure she hung onto all four boats! Amazing that she can keep that lanky figure!
And I was panicking after the paper fell out of the squeegee, thinking those things protruding were wires! It wasn’t until someone else picked it up that I realized it was cardboard! whew!
I hope the other side of the house got some pasta, too. With all of the parties, June for the chimps must be like the winter holidays for us, with most putting on a couple of pounds!
