Be mine, Nutmeg

February 10, 2024 by Sabrina

Today we celebrate Nutmeg’s 9th Birthday! He came here to CSNW with his mom Betsy, along with their friends Honey and Meredith from a sanctuary in California. Nutmeg is a lucky guy since he has been able to live his entire life in sanctuary!

Here at CSNW Nutmeg likes to spend his day with his bovine family eating from the apple trees scattered around the property, getting head scratched from his human friends and enjoying his cob and applesauce for a treat!

You can read more about Nutmeg here!  Nutmeg is blessed to have two Bovine Buddies, Monica and Jackie, but if you are interested in joining them you can find information about the buddy program here!

There’s something so satisfying about hearing their enjoyment of food…..just like the chimps and their lip smacking! They even managed to fit those two huge heads into one bucket! Such good table manners!

I love Betsy’s “Momfidence”….shoving a big steer over to get at his treat. Because she’s his mom and knows she can! Glad he had the best birthday a Jersey could have!

I wish Nutmeg an enjoyable birthday and another yearbof good health, good hair days, and striking poses to the camera like the picture (included) in the video where he looks somewhat bewildered as his mama licks his ear. I know of someone, recently turned 5 years old, who thinks that picture is just a hoot uf not also a moo! Happy natal day, Nutmeg.

Happy Birthday darling Nutmeg. It seems to me that you live the life of Riley at the sanctuary. Love you, you handsome young man.

Oh so sweet to share his special birthday treat with Betsy. Turning 9 years old but still a mama’s boy.

Happy birthday to Nutmeg, one of the most handsome creatures I have ever seen.

Happy birthday to the one and only, handsome and majestic Nutmeg! You might be all big and grown, but I know you’ll always be your momma’s baby boy!

This blog post reminds me to ask about thd success of Meridith’s hoof procedure. Has it helped? Will she need further treatment?

Hi Chris – Meredith will be going in for an evaluation and possible a follow-up treatment soon. We wish that the first treatment could have been a resounding success but at this point we aren’t seeing as much improvement as we would have liked. More to come soon!

What is “cob” that you fed to Nutmeg for his birthday treat?

    Please do not eat cows!
