‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving, when all through the [chimp] house
Not a chimp was stirring, not even a Honey (B);
The chimps were in bed, tucked into nests
in hopes that sweet rolls would soon be at Chimp Sanctuary Northwest.
Today has been rather low-key, whether the chimps realize it or not, they are resting up for the big Thanksgiving celebration. I personally can’t wait to hear Negra food squeak for Hawaiian rolls – it’s something I wait all year for! I thought I would share a collection of photos taken from today.

Where is Foxie? I haven’t seen her in a while.
If she has gone to join Jody, then I understand. I would be sad, but I would at least know where she is.
I will always love the chimpanzees and cattle found a home at the Sanctuary.
J.B. says
Hi Tobin – Foxie is just fine. You can see her in the video from a couple days ago when she and her group were inspecting the posts for the new climbing structures: https://chimpsnw.org/2023/11/video-in-two-parts-and-thanks-to-j-b/
Tobin says
Thank you, J.B., for your response. I am so very much relieved. In that video I counted five chimpeople, but while I could make out Jamie, Burrito and Missy, I wasn’t sure about the other two. I trust that she and her dolls will be able to attend tomorrow’s feast.

You scared me! Foxie stayed off to the right of the structure at first, she’s the thin, small one who walks with a curve to her back, like Bubba, but more pronounced
Cindee says
I love seeing Burrito watching the neighbors, he’s just a regular Gladys Kravitz!
Vicky says
I miss seeing the original six. I miss little Foxie. How is she?
Linda C says
We will likely see them in tomorrow’s video: Neggie eatinf rolls, Missy and Bubba chasing after the field roast, if it’s on the menu. I guess it all depends on who is working which side of the house…and with 9 Cifornians, maybe there are more hijinks to catch on that side than the OG side
Linda C says
Thank you, Kelsi!
I love to see Neggie after the rolls, too! If we may ask for a lot, pls include her squeaks in tomorrow’s video! That sound is as sweet as the words “Negra was the first one out the door this morning”.
Paulette says
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! I’m thankful for all of you and this little sanctuary with all of its fascinating residents <3
Linda C says
As we (and they, chimpy.people or otherwise) are for you, Paulette! Enjoy Thanksgiving (and give your little new fur baby a smidgen of turkey breast)
Arlene and Michael says
Thank you for these awesome pictures Kelsi! We’re looking forward to seeing and hearing about the Chimps’ Thanksgiving celebration!

I’m looking forward to this year’s TDay party video. One of the first CSNW videos I watched was Thanksgiving 2020 in which Jody figured prominently at the beginning and I’ve been hooked ever since. Will be thinking of her tomorrow. ?
Linda C says
2018 will always be one of my favs, and she and her dinosaur growls feature prominently at the end
Anamaria says
I’ll check it out 🙂

That question mark was supposed to be a big red heart. <3 🙂

“The chimps were in bed, tucked into nests in hopes that sweet rolls would soon be at Chimp Sanctuary Northwest.” I loved this! Sweet old Negra just might dream about sweet rolls every night. 🙂 Just look at her in that photo. One might think she’s enjoying the view but I think she’s thinking about sweet rolls.
Thank you, Kelsi, for filling us up on great photos on Thanksgiving eve!

Burrito, blue barrel sitting is such a delight. Spying can be such fun. And, who wouldn’t squeal with delight at Hawaiian sweet rolls. Turkeys are safe from me on TDay, but i’m first at the table for all the sides.
CarolR says
I’m sure that dear Negra has the date written firmly in her diary, hidden somewhere in her mountain of blankets. She wouldn’t miss her beloved Hawaiian rolls for anything. And if you want to know what the nine are up to, just ask Master Spy Burrito…..he doesn’t miss a trick!
Susan Kathleen Feeley says
Thankyou for today’s photo collection and I particularly loved Cy’s expression like lookey lookey something big is about to happen. Your Thanksgiving celebrations are nearly ready to take off (if my Australian time difference makes sense) and I wish you all a big fun time and look forward to seeing the post celebration photos. Bring it on.
Mary Garripoli says
I love my daily dose of chimps; it soothes my soul.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!!

Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving from Scotland. A few wee questions, if you dont mind? First will the new climbing frames be adapted a bit for my beautiful wee lady Negra? Also, to me Honey B is looking very thin, has she always been like that and ive just not noticed or has she indeed lost weight? To see all the chimps being content and happy as posible is a joy to see, so thank you might not seem much, but like with others have said before, you truly are amazing and the love and care you give our cousins is second to none, so a simple but heartful thank you.
Linda C says
Honey
B
has alwaysbeen lean an lanky, but I also thought he lookd thin yhere. But they get weighed quite a bit and keep a close eye on everyone”s calories, so it might just be the camera angle
Linda C says
sorry for the typos. phone

I’m going to start posing like that for all of my pics!
