It Takes a Village

September 9, 2023 by Jenna

Today is the perfect day to express gratitude for everyone who helps Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest be the organization it is. I have been thinking about this a lot lately… how many people love the chimps near and far.

We have directors who have dedicated their entire lives to the chimps. We have staff who have moved across the country, away from their families, to work with the chimps. We have volunteers that help caregivers clean multiple times a week. We have volunteers that help us keep up with the endless amounts of laundry, that organize our kitchen so the caregivers have more time to spend with the chimps, and/or come and fill 100+ chow bags. We have donors who drop off a bag of peanuts and a bag of magazines consistently, without saying a word. We have online supporters that comment on our blog and social media every single day. We have supporters who buy something off of our Amazon Wishlist every week. This list goes on and on, truly.

There are so many little things that help us be hugely successful. Thank you so much for helping us care for the chimps! Thank you to all the volunteers for doing what you do. Thank you to my co-workers for caring for the chimps day-in and day-out.

We wouldn’t be able to do it without each and every one of you. Thank you for the never-ending support for CSNW.

Tonight is HOOT 2023, our biggest fundraising event of the year! If you are unable to join us in Seattle, you can join us virtually for free! Please secure your spot here and join in on the fun! Don’t miss it!

I’m going to be so sorry to miss Hoot tonight! I signed up for virtual attendance without realizing that with the time difference, I’m going to be sleeping when you go live. I hope everyone enjoys themselves and maybe there will be a video we can watch to see what we missed. Of course, that doesn’t give us the opportunity to bid on anything, but it would still be nice to see how it went.

My ither social engagement today was a wash, so I’m going to try and stay up and watch!

I wonder if the author of “I am Lucy” knows how much Jamie loves her books?

Well, I tried signing up for the free virtual tickets, but it still wanted my credit card information. I didn’t feel comfortable giving that up so I guess I will not be joining you guys.

What a sweet sentiment. Sixteen little but mighty chimpanzee people have a pull stronger than the tides. It’s all for them and deservingly so.

Have fun tonight at HOOT! in person!! I am with you in spirit.

Yes, it sure takes a village and it’s heart-warming to know that we are all connected, from staff to supporters who play our part in keeping the chimps and bovines happy and healthy at the sanctuary. For me it’s a pleasure and a privilege to be part of your lives. Have so much fun with your Hoot event. I will be with you all in spirit.

There is something about your group and of the chimps that i am drawn to. Just by the pix shown here and of the expressions on the chimps faces, it says something about them, and your care givers are to be commended for that. Its why i like to try to send interesting things that i could afford to send you for their care. Cross country can be expensive for those board books!

There used to be a “print” or “media” rate. Printed books, dvds and the like would get a cheaper rate. Check to see if it still exists.
