Rainy Day at CSNW

August 5, 2023 by Sabrina

Today we had an unexpected cool, rainy day here in Cle Elum and Jamie & company didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the break from the heat. Normally, most chimps don’t tend to spend a lot of time outside in the rain when they have the option to be inside but today Jamie and Burrito were more than happy to go on a walk around the hill with volunteer caregiver Lizz, while Missy, Annie and Foxie hung around the hammocks outside. Negra, per usual, enjoyed a leisurely day in the greenhouse lounging in her blanket nest.

Later, Negra and Burrito indulged in a play session to pass the time, with a guest appearance by Annie!

    Thanks for capturing that most excellent play session between Neggie & Mr. B + Annie. Neggie hugging Burrito like a turnstile was sweet. I can’t recall if I’ve ever heard Annie’s dinosaur grunts before this. They surprised me! Looks like everyone turned a rainy day into a good day.

      Yes, that dinosaur grunt from Interrupting Annie reminded me of Jo.
      It sounded like a food grunt, wonder if it was pre-breakfast or pre-lunch excitement!

        Annie’s grunts made me think of Jody too!

          I think Annie has decided that if sombody has to dinosour-growl; it might as well be her!
          So the spirit of Jody is still around.

    Welll, that rain didn’t put the dampener on the chimps fun and frolics. Lovely to see them having a great time. Do the chimps enjoy the snow as much? They are so adventurous and thanks for sharing this with us.

    I love Annie announcing her presence with the finger poke and began what looked like a boxing match.

    Hello, thank you so much for the fantadtic video. First, i love how gentle Annie is with Negra, you can see she is holding back from the usual full force of the “hits”. Also, i had asked before, but it was on an old post, but ill ask again, ehy does Burrito always have to carry something in his mouth? Is it a comform thing or just a habit he got into? Thank you all the wonderful videos, they make my day start with a smile. ?

      In case no one answers;
      YES, Burrito almost always has something in his mouth. I don’t know why, or if any one knows why…

    Is there anyone as purely good natured and loveable as Burrito seems to be??? Always playing! what an amazing soul!
