Summer is officially here for the residents and staff at the sanctuary, it’s been in the 90’s for the last couple days and that means more juice pools for the chimps and some extra Popsicle breaks for the staff and chimps
Missy enjoyed a Gatorade pool along with a refreshing late-morning Popsicle
Burrito and Jamie shared a Gatorade pool with blueberries in it
Jamie is a refined lady who prefers the use of a cup vs sipping directly from the communal juice pool
And afterwards Jamie enjoys a Popsicle.. or two
On the other side of the building with Cy’s group:
Rayne had a pool all to herself in the greenhouse until Honey B came upon the scene
Honey B and Terry foraging for blueberries in their juice pool
But also, Kelsi, Sofia and Lizz took a much needed Popsicle break
P.S. Dont forget to check out our Amazon wishlist!

Warm here, too, Sabrina!
Do you guys make the popsicles for the chimps, or buy frozen juice bars?

Wow, you are sweltering over in Washington state! I do understanding as our Australian summers often the high temps of 38 to 40 degrees celcius! I loved the gatorade pools and iced treats for the chimps and the humans. Stay as cool and chilled out as you can and just think of all that vitamin D from the sunshine.

No one has a more adorable silhouette than athletic Missy. All the different approaches to enjoying a cooling sip of Gatorade! Sipping, leg up to brace yourself, straddle-balance-dip-sip, straddle and dunk, fish with delicate fingers, and everyone enjoying it all! Well…..maybe not ‘everyone’! From the looks of you three hardcore workers, perhaps you are not totally enjoying your hard earned refreshments. I suggest when you go home tonight you enjoy a libation of choice, maybe one or two, and good nights sleep.
Thanks so much providing a moment of cool for the chimps when your brains are boiling. You are truly amazing.

When it’s that hot and humid, and you’ve been doing physical work all day, you tend to drink a lot of water, to the point that you feel waterlogged and not even hungry at the end of the day
Kathleen says
ha ha! When I used the word libation, I was referring to going home and getting a good stiff alcoholic drink. After all that heat and hot work, I figured the staff needed some thing such as an icy cold margarita!
Linda C says
lol, most I could ever manage was a shower, some cheese puf:laughing:fs, and go to bed
Marcie says
I had to take a closer look because I initially thought Honey B was in the pool and thought that was rude! But there’s no way water touches their bods. Thanks for the great pictures.
Gaynell says
Marcie. I too thought i saw a leg in a pool and i started to say, ladies, please don’t cool your footsies in the Gatorade. To the staff, i wish you a cool breeze and extra popsicles for all.
Marie says

Paulette says
It always amazes me that those pools don’t flip over when the chimps stand on the edge!

I live in Central Florida, it’s pretty much in the 90s eight months out of the year. That white popsicle Kelsi has looks really good. Coconut?
