The Morning After Jubilee

June 14, 2023 by Kelsi

After yesterdays festivities, today has been pretty low-key for everyone. I think both chimps and humans are exhausted from such an awesome day of nonstop partying! If you didn’t see yesterdays blog, STOP EVERYTHING you are doing and look now! And if you missed Diana talking about Negra’s story, be sure to check that out too! Don’t forget that until the end of June all donations will be doubled until we reach $30,000. Follow this link to learn more about how you can help us reach our goal!

Guess who!

It’s Rayne!

How did we get so lucky to have such a sweet and kind soul like Terry?! It has been so fun to watch Terry grow in just the few years he has been at CSNW and watch him make new friends. I am not sure if we share this often, but he is quietly good friends with Honey B (maybe don’t tell Honey B). I often will see them on the cameras grooming or hanging out in the same area together. She even grooms with him from time to time! And I don’t know if I have ever met a gentler chimp than him. What I am trying to say is that Terry is just such a nice guy with a really good heart <3.

How sweet that they get along, Kelsi! Both of them with an approach to others that isn’t always understood, so it’s nice to see that Honey B is making friends!

Not eating cake a lot is how she got to be 50.
As much as I love seeing her enjoy cake, I’d rather keep her around as long as possible

Last night’s video of the Trifecta gala posted past my bedtime to see it when it posted. My thanks to everyone eho helped to make it the Party of the Half-Century and Third-Century for the Birthday Queen and Blrpthday Terry. I loved the food barks and squeaks and the Command Performance by the Royal CSNW Ballet. How lucky Chad was to have had his name at the top of Neggie’s dance card!

On the first blog post from yesterday, Marie reacted to a photograph of Jody sitting atop a log on Young’s Hill that it looked as if she was paying a visit from Heaven for Negra’s birthday. Seeing the haul that Missy brought in from the forage, I am inclined to agree that the spirit of Farmer Jo was present to give her friend Missy a hand in bringing in her bounty.

Yes!…. I noticed Missy was looking all around …… trying to hide her stash from the watchful eyes of ” Master I Want Your Food Jamie”…… appears the Spirit of Farmer Joe was there to Aid her:grin:……She hit the Motherload with that one

Great pictures of Terry! And Diana’s story on Negra was very moving.

Yes, I think Jody has passed her job of Farmer/Gatherer Extraordinaire on to her pal Missy. Not quite at Jody’s level of stuffing both arms and mouth full yet, but she’s a quick learner!

Thank you, Kelsi, for these photos of the handsome boys and Lucky and Rayne. Cy looks likes he’s enjoying the sunshine while holding on to the firehose for dear life. Is Cy not a fan of the grass? And I love hearing about Terry’s sweetness. Love his freckled handsome face.

Thanks again for the spectacular day yesterday. I’m guessing everyone had a good nights sleep, and 15 chimpanzee people had Oreo cake fairies dancing in their heads!
