If cows had a national holiday, this would be it.
A little further down the mountain, Cy’s group continues to explore the Bray. Here are a some photos from the past few days – you’ll notice that there are a lot of Rayne, and that’s because she spends more time out there than anyone else. We were so happy when she decided to take her lunch out for a picnic this afternoon. While some of the chimps are still a little nervous—and Mave and Honey still have yet to go out—the group is doing really well overall with this new aspect of sanctuary life.

They literally left you in the dust, JB! 🙂
Not Meredith the first one through that scary gate!?
Cindee says
The sheer joy on Rayne’s face is the best thing I’ve seen today!
marianne says
Oh I agree…..happyness all over her face.
tomaustin says
Well, that is a BIGGGGGG HOOT from Cy….!!!……..

Marie says
Look at Rayne …. she is definitely in her element…. catching some Sun …..trying to get a little Tan on that Receding Hairline …..you Go Girl!…….. Looking just Marvelous….and Look.!..some Brotherly Love out on the Hil….Love It…. I feel once Honey B and Mavis come out on that Hill….they’ll be Unstoppable 😀
Marie says
When Honey B and Mavis come out, we should play the song sang by Sia…………”I put my armor on, show you how strong I am
I put my armor on, I’ll show you that I am
I’m unstoppable
I’m a Porsche with no brakes
I’m invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I’m so powerful
I don’t need batteries to play
I’m so confident
Yeah, I’m unstoppable today” :grin::grin::grin::grin:

I love that song, it would be perfect for Mave and Honey B.

OHHHH, JB — thank you for sharing these!! I just love seeing them outdoors with the breeze in their faces and surveying their territory. Just so transportive! And the bovines “skipping” along into their summer pasture is always delightful. Rayne on the log with her eyes closed, facing up, holding her apples, looking completely blissed out!! I’d imagine the sun on her face is truly a marvel for her. I’m so grateful they are free to be totally who they each are in such marvelous spaces, including the women who are still inside. I’m sure they’ll go out as they continue to hear all the stories of the others’ adventures.
Marie says
Completely Blissed Out……I love that Marya! SHE DOES BY GEORGE…..I THINK :four_leaf_clover::rose::rofl::grin::four_leaf_clover:the Cows are ,too

This is so exciting! Rayne is so cool bringing her lunch outside. She’s so comfortable! The two photos of Rayne with her face turned up towards the sun, eating her lunch, say it all. Just beautiful.
Has Cy ventured outside with some reading materials yet?
Kathleen says
I was so excited over the first adventures into the Bray, that I forgot to comment on the exciting fifth annual rush to the spring pasture! What a beautiful green expanse. Wouldn’t Negra love to join them as they munch on that tall spring grass! Thanks for sharing this happy romp each year. A favorite of mine.

We’ve been putting magazines out along with the forage to entice Cy to spend time outside. While he does enjoy spending time outside, he usually grabs the magazine and brings it inside to read first…then he goes back out. So maybe that is backfiring. Plus, the Bray is littered with loose magazine pages now 🙂
Marya says
JB, I think this is so funny! Maybe he doesn’t want his magazines to get dirty. Or maybe he wants to just enjoy the beauty around him and be able to “study” his magazines with less distraction of sun, sky, trees and breeze. What a guy!!!

This was such a happy, joyful blog. We loved watching the video of Cattle Day and are thrilled that The Bray is open for chimp businrss!
Marcie says
One of my favorite activity to watch, the bovines know exactly what to do. Meanwhile, the chimps on The Bray look so pleased to be outside. Life is good for our critters at Cle Elum.
Tobin says
Thank you, J.B., for today’s video. From the looks of it, Meredith, Nutmeg, Honey and Betsy were due for a moove to a greener pasture.
As for Rayne, I think that she is content to spend her summer on the Bray. Perhaps the presence of a garden hose in dire need of uncoiling would serve as an incentive to her sister Beezus to join her under the summer sun?
Gaynell says
Well, I wouldnt exactly call it the running of the cows, but it sure was a lovely stroll to that sweet grass. No feed lot fodder for this herd. Thank you for those beautiful photos of Rayne with the sun on her face. You will know the Bray is 100% THE place to be when Cy comes out with an armful of reading material to peruse.
J.B. says
Isn’t it amazing to see Rayne out in the sun? But let me tell you, I’ve gone on strolls before and this was not one. I could barely keep up with them up that steep hill and I had to add music to the video to cover the sound of my heavy breathing 🙂
Nancy Duryea says
The video filled my heart with joy.
Arlene and Michael says
This is such a beautiful post J.B. Thank you. Everyone looks so happy!!! The photos of Rayne and Cy are so joyful. Thank you to all of you for making this possible.
Jane McDowall says
Oh how my heart soared to see this video plus those beautiful cattle also being where they belong, on the range so to speak. Awe what can i say about Rayne that others have’nt said, my eyes filled with happy tears and a bit of sad tears if im honest, that our beautiful cousinshave been denied just sitting with our face to the sun and to be free to have a summer breeze on their face and body. But, they can now thanks to you all, and your endless decication to them, so thank you. I know as do others who follow your wonderful blogs and videos, wait for every word and photo and video with waited breathe of the rest of the chimps finally stepping out in what is theirs, freedom. A wee quick question, do you milk the cows?
Jason says
The look of pure joy on Cy’s face brings me, for lack of a better term, joy. Love seeing them all so happy and cared for. <3
Dawn Durbin says
So uplifting to watch that video. I’m inspired to put on my hiking shoes and get on the trails!
And Cy’s group outside and happy. Great start to my day. Thanks!!

I think Rayne has found her happy place! The picture of her with her eyes closed, face raised to the sun and food in her hands is priceless!

Well, they say “home is where the heart is” and it’s clear to see that all your amazing residents are out having the time of their lives. I love these videos and seeing fun and happiness on the bray. A huge thankyou xxxx
Paulette says
oh my! Rayne soaking up the sun just took my breath away! Then Cy’s hoot! And then just the most handsome picture EVER!!
