The beauty of sanctuary here at CSNW is that every chimpanzee gets to explore their interests. Jamie has her boots and books, Foxie has her dolls, Mave has her Dora, Dora has her Mave, Honey B always has mischievous plans, and Cy has his magazines. Recently, Cy has found something else that has peaked his interest, romance and romcom movies. Cy is the leader of his group, but to us staff he really is a big softy. So it really didn’t surprise us when he seemed to love movies like The Notebook, Love Actually, Must Love Dogs, and Hitched. What did surprise us is that Cy will now request a movie before bed, to which we say, of course! It’s very sweet, his caregivers will set a sleep timer for his movie, usually The Notebook, then Cy will make a nest in front room 7 and eventually fall asleep to his movie.
We also believe that Cy is a BIG Ryan Gosling fan. If you have any romcom DVDs gathering dust please feel free to send them to Cy! I am curious now- what everyone’s favorite RomCom?
Bonus photos! Rayne and Honey B are half sisters, can you tell?

I just knew that Cy was a big romantic sweetheart!

how’s the fence coming today…?…..great weather is on the way…

Ah, the plot thickens! Now we have a clue as to Cy’s close perusal of movie mags: To catch the latest news about Ryan Gosling (Cy is far more apprised than me of such matters, as I haven’t a clue who that is).
Favorite rom-com? Hmm…well, I wonder if Cy would be a fan of “Amelie”? I don’t recall anyone wearing a plaid flannel shirt (it takes places in Montmartre, Paris, apres tout…), so perhaps he might be a fan…unless, of course, garden gnomes are on his list of things and people not to look upon.

Ryan Gosling is a Canadian eh…..?
Linda C says
Oh, Kelsi, when you sprang Must Love Dogs on us a week ago, I was dying! There are a couple of scenes from that that I remember vividly. I don’t know why it doesn’t surprise me, it just doesn’t.
How aboyt “PS, I Love You?” Gerry will give Ryan a run for his money! Or maybe “The Proposal”? Steel Magnolias? “Hope Floats”? We need a pic of Cy hunkered down with his “stories”.
The pics of the sisters couldn’t have been better! The mirroring poses!

This post reminds me of the video, “Dog Obsessed With Julie Andrews”!
CeeCee says
Oooh, I’ll bet Cy would like
La La Land !
I love that he’s just like me, falling asleep to the TV at night. :revolving_hearts:
Marie says
Geeeeez can we find a smaller TV:rofl: maybe we need a collection
Marie says
…..I don’t know about those Garden Gnomes…. guess they could always throw one in the Bray:grin: and see what happens
Marie says
Now….. that I think about it….. they have no necks and you never see their eyes…. so they’re very non-confrontational ……I think if he comes bearing fruit he could become a welcomed:hugging: friend

Oh, I would just want to make sure..
just as some people have a hang-up about clowns, some people are gnomiphobic. I understand that David Bowie would never perform his early hit “The Laughing Gnome”.

:astonished:
Gaynell says
How about “Sleepless in Seattle,” since Cy and his family live in Washington state.

Gotta love a guy who likes romantic movies, and Cy is just the fellow! I would say “You’ve Got Mail”, “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, “Mamma Mia” for some good tunes and a classic, “Roman Holiday”! Now if only he had popcorn to go with the movie:wink::popcorn:
Linda C says
I’ll bet Mamma Mia! would be a good one…
I wonder if Shirley Valentine would be too slow for him? She goes shopping for fruit and veg at the market often…
Nancy Duryea says
I love the idea of Cy falling asleep watching a movie, I knew we had a few things in common, Love Actually is a movie I never tire of watching (I’m a fan of Bill Nighy) and that Ryan Gosling is pretty darn cute. I wonder if one of the lady chimps would be interested in watching a movie with Cy?
Marie says
Gaynell….. the same Duo hooked up in the movie “You got Mail” that was another goodie
Marcie says
If you serve popcorn for a weekend movie treat, you may get other chimps to attend. Willy B used to enjoy watching movies, wonder if the big guy is too busy to sit still for a movie now.
Deanna says
Just when I thought I couldnt love Cy any more than I already do!!! I too love Rom Coms and am a hugh Ryan Gosling fan… Wonder if he would like LaLa Land or Crazy Stupid Love!! How about The Proposal or 50 first dates… I too absolutely LOVE the movie Love Actually and watch it every Christmas! The notebook is truly a sweet movie and always makes me cry… thank you for this post! One of my favorites..,

Clearly, since Cy reads the celebrity rags from cover to cover, he is well informed on Hollywood and Independent Film making as well as Star gazing. Imagine the thrill he must feel seeing his favorite actors on the big screen! So happy Cy was captured nesting in his mound of blankets watching his favorite film. (“Must Love Dogs”?! Really? I’m still laughing over this.)
I’m sorry to say I have no rom com DVDs to send to Cy. Perhaps you could add his favorites to your Amazon Wish List.
After reading and watching this I’m guessing everyone Must Love Cy. I sure do.
Tobin says
Given Woody Allen’s sartorial choices (a plaid flannel shirt), I would advise against popping a DVD of “Annie Hall” in the CD-ROM for Cy’s late show viewing.
Sherry says
I’m sure he would love Sleepless in Seattle, or maybe J Lo and Matthew McConaughey in The Wedding Planner.

And over the other side…..wouldn’t Neggie just love all the Fred Astaire movies with her love of dancing?
