Bonding with our Newest Caregiver

April 15, 2023 by Jenna

One of the most rewarding and fun aspects of being a caregiver is building the relationships with each of the chimpanzees. Our newest caregiver, Sabrina, has been working hard on creating bonds with the chimps. One of the best ways to form friendships with the chimps is participating in their favorite activities, such as grooming or playing chase. As you will see in today’s video, Sabrina is doing just that! Enjoy 🙂

That reverse move would make me laugh so hard i wouldn’t be able to run. But, i think Sabrina passed the test and is on her way to Chimp Seal of Approval. Well done.

It might be a bit frustrating when he does it 4 times on your third trip around or when it’s raining. Bit I’d still proba ly give it a go! 🙂

What a sense of humor! Love it. And, yes, Sabrina, well done!

Well done Sabrina!! I know the majority of your job is seriously hard work and a huge responsibility but, I am so jealous of your time spent gaining trust, sharing laughs, playing chase, grooming, hanging out, and yes, even running in every direction around Young’s Hill….in any type of weather. To be part of the “CSNW In Crowd” is the best job perk. Ever! Lucky you.

I apologise if i have asked this before. I know just how hard you all work which we dont really see, but we know you do, but i wondered, if you are in the middle of something and suddenly one of the chimps indicates it wants to play or go a walk, do you stop what you are doing and then either go on the walk or play, or do they undersfand if you motion to give you a few minutes to finish what you are doing before you couldplay/walk with them? I like others have also said, but its good to say it again, thank you for all the love, care and joy you give all your residents, and the freedom you give them to choose how they would like to enjoy their day.
