Second Winter

February 27, 2023 by J.B.

After enjoying a lengthy Fool’s Spring throughout the month of February, we awoke to find ourselves in the momentary grasp of Second Winter. While this may be viewed as a setback to folks like Burrito, who had been furiously lapping Young’s Hill in an attempt for a single-day record, Negra takes it all in stride. In fact, no one is better prepared for a change in the weather than Negra. Because no matter the conditions outside – hot or cold, sunny or cloudy, windy or still – it is always exactly the same inside her perfect nest.

She’s so beautiful. Any chance of catching a video of her preparing for bed? I would love to see the whole process of making her cozy nests from start to sleep?

I believe our Fools Spring is abruptly ending today and a Second Winter is descending upon us too. Snowfall, minutes away! Seeing Negra peeking out from her colorful cozy nest is a warm ray of sunshine for me. Ahhhhh. All is right with the world. :heartpulse:

Ohhhh, Neggie and her nest!! Thank you, JB, for making my day! I swear she reminds me of my little grandmother from “the old country” who used to wrap up in blankets with only the front of her face exposed. Makes me chuckle every time I see Negra in her usual pose.

I am relieved to read that Her Majesty does take an encore of Winter in stride (it would seem that she caught sight of Her Royal Shadow while stirring from her nest on Feb. 2nd). For enduring a Second Winter, is Neggie the Hobbit entitled to Second Breakfasts (and Second Night Bags)?

Neggie’s got it right…. she has all Spring and Summer to eat grass and hear the birds chirp……. that’s right old girl ….takes energy to build a perfect nest …it’s only right that you should enjoy it and we all know if you leave it….. someone else will take it over:astonished:Sweet Dreams……What an adorable face:hugging:
