Breakfast Club

February 6, 2023 by Grace

Breakfast is one of the most exciting meals here at the sanctuary! Everyone’s just waking up and getting ready for the day, and they know yummy fruits, vegetables, and smoothies are on their way. It’s always a fun meal to serve and today we wanted to bring it to you!

Today’s breakfast menu:

Pomegranates, Cherry Tomatoes, Peanuts, and Chow

Smoothie Recipe:

Bananas, Cantaloupe, Pomegranates, Oat milk, and Supplements

We are able to serve fresh fruits and vegetables to the chimps in our care thanks to twice weekly produce deliveries from Charlie’s Produce. These deliveries allow us to keep the chimps fridges stocked and we are so grateful for them and for everyone who donates as a Produce Patron! Click here to learn more and you can help us keep the chimps bellies full, too. 🙂

Jamie, feeling particularly fashionable today:

Terry, being his sweet self:

Breakfast is certainly my favorite meal of the day. That smoothie sounds delicious. My favorite guy Cy, looking dapper and Jamie is definitely stylin’ that neckerchief. Thanks for the blog today.

I’ll have to sign up. I can’t get pomegranates any longer!

Well, that certainly was a delightful repast! Thanks for the invite, Grace.

Cy, Terry, and Gordo are such sweet chaps, savoring their favorite foods and Gordo holding on to the cup to help you in your cleanup. So dear I sighed out loud. Dora is clearly enjoying her tomatoes, she wears them well! Surprised to see Honey B easily got away with snitching the pomegranate from Rayne. Rayne didn’t bat an eye, not while the tomatoes were being handed out. And Willy B appeared to be pretty darn content while scarfing down fist fulls of chow. It appears breakfast isn’t just the most important meal of the day, it might be the most fun.

I have to add that this photo of Cy is fabulous! The expression on his face, his eyes! Handsome indeed. And Jamie!! Not to knock anyones fashion sense, but there is something so stylish about tying on a scarf to brighten your face. Sure, headbands, no matter how you wear them, are sporty, but it seems as if only Jamie has the knack for tying a scarf around her neck — très chic. She is such a fashionista!! Did she do this because she knew you were serving pomegranates today?

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Charlie’s Produce for filling the chimps full of healthy, scrumptiously fresh foods. And big hugs to all of you at CSNW who take such good care of these sixteen special people.

    Thank you, Grace!
I know Jamie can tie knots, but when I see a scarf tied with a knot THAT tight, I have to wonder if you guys helped her with that when you put them out?
And when Gordo eats his courses piece by piece (Missy does this sometimes, too, doesn’t she!?) Does it slow down the whole breakfast service for you? I can’t imagine how you’d keep track of who’s had 5 slices of tomato. and who’s had 3…

Yes, Linda, i noticed the knot in Jamie’s scarf and figured it was large enough to slip over her head.

Hi, Linda! No, we did not help her out with that knot. She did it all on her own! And when a chimp eats at a slower pace than the others, we give them a piece or two and move on to the next person before circling back. It’s a game of memory, that’s for sure!

Wow, Grace! Count me impressed! With the Boss’s skills (pls tell her I said so), and your memory games! My friends always tease me about how good mine is….but if several chimps did that at once several times a day, it would get nutty!

Loved this blog, the close ups giving me a good sense of the chimps portrayed. The breakfast looked delicious, no wonder they loved it! My noter always told me breakfast was the most improtnt meal of the day, the chimps agree!
