Though Jamie and Cy may be in different groups they had the same idea today, Wednesday is for reading.
Jamie’s current must reads are:
1. I’m Lucy by Marian Brickner – (a classic)
And a sequel to the Lucy bonobo book
2. Bonobo Lucy Grows up by Marian Brickner
Cy’s new favorite read is a magazine:
¡Hola!
Other than book club, it was a pretty quiet day, which is why it was the perfect day for reading!
Cy could not put this magazine down:
Jamie with both Lucy books:
Bonus photos!
Burrito:
Rayne:
Annie and Missy playing on the bench in front room 2:
And I will leave you with a series of Negra photos:

“Cy could not put this magazine down.” But, of course not! Per Saturday’s blog post, in which Sofia revealed that Cy and his troop comprehende Espanol, it logically follows that he should be preocupado con el ultimo numero de Hola! Ah, la glamur, los Celebridades, la chismes salaces!
Oh, and the portraits of Her Royal Majesty, Burrito, and Lady Rayne are worthy of display in a Museum of Fine Art. In lieu of that, thank you so much for posting them here instead.

If possible one day, I would love to see a photo of the view out that window that all of the seven intently look out!

Oh my goodness ….I was tickled pink ,red ,white and blue to see the Lucy sequel finally arrived. I guess with Jamie hardback is better !!!!:grin:What’s crazy it wouldn’t matter if she shredded it ,ripped it, sat on it ,destroyed it….. there’s a special Joy To Know it’s yours that she did it too! :hugging:Go figure!
Marie says
N e g g i e is sooooo beautiful… such a delicate, humble and sensitive little creature. I somehow feel like something’s missing in those pictures….like a Shaw and Rocking Chair…let’s make that shaw with a little Fringe….I think she would like that:wink:.Those eyes just sooth the soul:kissing_heart:

I get a sitff neck just looking at Jamie lounging on her table. I worry that by now, Jamie has received almost every last copy of “I’m Lucy”. I keep scouring the internet and it appears very few copies exist! What are we to do when there no more?! I think we need to contact the publisher and request they do a special small print run just for Jamie. It would be guaranteed to sell out again. (BTW, I’m sort of serious about this.)
And I can see why Cy is enjoying his new magazine, look at those oversized pages! All the better to see the celebrities.
Thank you for adding the photos of Burrito, smiling Rayne, playful Annie and Missy, and the one and only sun drenched NEGRA! Oh how I love your queen.

I’ve had that same concern about the Lucy book!I’ve had that same concern about the Lucy book!

It’s funny how Burrito and Neggie always take similar photos when in the Studio Room!
And I’ll bet Jamie and Cy read EVERY day!
Thank you, Kelsi!
(And I had the same thought as Kathleen about the availability of Jamie’s books. I know that certain books you can run a copy of your own of your own at Barnes & noble. but I don’t know if they do that with photographic books)
Marie says
One would think they would have at least used copies out there…No?
Linda C says
On Amazon, the few that are there cost anywhere between $35 and $85. a libras.com last list a few, but I’m guessing that they’re cross- listed on Amazon.
Maybe a couple on AbeBooks, and one on Walmart, used, $6
Linda C says
sorry, that’s alibris.com
Marie says
I’ve made prints from books on color copiers and I couldn’t tell the difference and they were just as beautiful
Marie says
I know color isn’t cheap but we could all pitch in
Betsy says
Photo the pages on your phone and print color copies on a home printer.I’m sure many of us have home printers, and could run a copy. A print shop can bind them inexpensively. I doubt anyone will deny Jamie this little pleasure in life, after what she’s been through. Team Jamie!

I like variety in my magazines. While I like certain things right now, maybe next month I might like something different. I’ve thought of asking my neighbors to gather mags and catalogs and send them west once a year, but maybe it’s just best to buy a subscription (seeing as the paper itself is a fun nesting material year-round.) I know the local Cle Elum community donates some mags, but is there a way we can all contribute to a book/mag fund to supplement this year round? Asking for a friend 😉
Linda C says
Hi, Betsy!
I think subscriptions were either on the wish list, or someone just went ahead and did it.
Stay warm!
Betsy says
Thanks Linda, no kidding we’re in the middle of our 6th blizzard in 7 weeks here! Yikes! I’m not one who can fund a lot of things for my favorite chimps, but i can throw a few bucks into “Cy and Jamie’s Reading Rainbow Fund” and then let Kelsi and her friends decide how to spend it, if such a fund were to exist. I’ve fallen asleep many times surrounded by books. I don’t usually rip the pages out, but to each their own.
Linda C says
Same, lol!
My Afton friend got a few weeks’ ride along in Italy, she’ll be back next week. She said she misses her kitties, not the weather! I’m undergoing a career change, and my friends in MN and Chicago don’t understand why I don’t want to move back to the Midwest in a hurry. It’s 35 and dry here, what’s not to like!?
Jane McDowall says
I think its wonderful how Jamie and Cy love to read, but im wondering do the chimps like listening to music? I have read somewhere that some of the chimp/apes like listening to different types of music and i was wondering if you have played different types to the chimps? And lastly but never least, beautiful Negra, oh how i would love just to sit by her and have a little chat. Thank you for all your love for our amazing cousins.

I asked the same question a couple of years ago, and they said that for the most part, they don’t care. Neggie sometimes bops to the music while they’re cleaning, and loves to watch people dance. But the rest of the original 7 seem pretty oblivious to it. Don’t know about the new group
