Supporters often ask us caregivers if we have “favorites” among the sixteen chimpanzees who reside at the sanctuary. I refuse to answer.
Any caregiver worth their salt responds to this common line of inquiry with a prudent, noncommittal reply. It would be irresponsible for us to grow more attached to one chimp than the others, compromising our efforts to maintain objectivity when discussing important Chimp House matters. Each individual is unique and lovable in their own way, and we caregivers form special relationships with all of them. If you’re digging for evidence of favoritism, you’d be better off asking a parent to reveal their favorite child.
Even if I did have a favorite chimpanzee to work with and care for, it’s not like I could ever admit that… especially not on the blog!
On a completely unrelated note, I’ve included, like, sixty-eight photos of Honey B for no reason in particular.

:grinning: You are the consummate professional, as always! Thank you for always putting a big smile on my face and for being the person you are. :sparkling_heart: Gonna miss your vlogs but hope to hear from you again when possible. Six months ago, upon introducing the chimpanzees and the cattle to a friend of mine, I was asked, “Who’s your favorite?” While I sponsor Jody and Meredith, I told her that I love and adore all of the Cle Eluminati equally. Thus, I understand if, in the interest of objectivity and professional integrity, a caregiver can’t declare a “favorite” among the residents.
That being said, Honey B. Chimpanzee is one photogenic woman! She takes a great photograph. Not only that, but a good deal of the credit for the successful integration between Beezie’s troop and Rayne’s troop goes to her! And if Anthony can’t reveal his “favorite” amongst the residents, I surmise that Beezie has a favorite human: Luna! I hope that Luna is able to spend some quality time on “Take-your-Daughter-to-work days” with her friend H.B.

My mother also said she did not have any favorites among her five children. We all teased her about it for years, because we knew better. She finally, about 10 years before her death, admitted that it was the youngest of my two brothers. and for the reason that we all knew: he looks, sounds, and acts just like my dad.
This was probably a good photo dump, too. So many great shots here!

And there really are 68! She’s a great-looking lady, even with her lips pursed. My interest is in behavior, and I love her particular style of misbehavior. I have a very soft spot for Negra because of her history and age. I told my grandsons that one is my favorite Evan, one my favorite Josh, etc. So it is here.
Anthony, we are indeed going to miss you. And I’m sure the chimp people will, too. Thank you for informing and entertaining us for as long as you have.

Anthony! Thank you for the photo dump of everything Honey B! Fabulous to see her, just her, doing so many different things (but almost always intensely looking right at you!):fearful::laughing:
My *favorite* image will always be Honey B waltzing about in her poinsettia floral sarong. Still makes me screech when I see it! And the image with the single little lilac flower on her lip. Oh, and the images of Honey B and little Luna (who I believe to be the most beautiful child in the world. Seriously.). Luna and Honey B connecting through the windows glass gets me, every single time. I guess every image of HB might be a favorite.
PS: at the shelter where I volunteer, there are no favorites either. Each dog is uniquely themselves, all individuals worthy of equal respect and compassion.

Well, Chad, I am sorry that you are leaving. I know the terroir will be forever changed. I hope you will tell us what your next endeavor will be and maybe post a picture of yourself. I’d like to put a face to the speaker.
As you don’t have a favorite chimp, neither do I have a favorite blog author.
Wishing you all the best,
Chris
