What’s in Your Pocket?

November 16, 2022 by Kelsi

I wanted to share a cute quick story from yesterday and today, which fits perfectly with our Comfort & Joy, the Quid Pro Throw online auction theme! Yesterday, we noticed at all points of the day Annie was carrying one particular blanket in her pelvic pocket all day. I was on the other side of the building cleaning most of the day, but at any point I saw Annie, she had this blanket in her pocket. I was finally able to snap a few pictures at the end of the evening. I asked Chad, who was lead in Annie’s side and he said he observed her with it a lot too! When Annie came to lunch today she had a new blanket in her pelvic pocket that she then proceeded to carry around for the day. I can only assume that the blankets Annie carried around seemed to bring her some sort of comfort, but we can never really say for sure.

The auction is going on now! You can bid on items for the chimps or yourself. Don’t miss out on all the fun, but don’t out bid me ;)!

Adorable photos of Annie wihth her, pelvic, pocket blankie! Worth pondering as to what prompted it. Made me very hungry for an avocado!

    C’mon, Kelsi….you know how it works….summer=waistband season. Fall=blanket shawls!

It seems as though the big wolf blanket is really popular. Maybe she just wanted that plaid, or it was really soft, and she didn’t want to lose it to someone else.

Thanks for the lovely pics of pretty interrupting Annie-bird!

It looks like Annie is making a fashion statement while eating the popsicle.

Just wonderful! Thanks for sharing these great pics of pelvic pocket preferences! I must say (though am loathe to admit!!) that I, too, have a pelvic pocket of sorts these days which I’ve never tried carrying anything in but I’ll certainly give it a whirl. Will make it handy when I’m walking upstairs carrying too many things and need a 3rd hand. Her example makes it all look very fetching and practical!! Woohoo!

Annie’s personal promo to let us know that we must bid on all the great Comfort & Joy gifts….especially the cozy gifts for chimps. (I think Annie is hoping for the big wolf blanket.) Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Thank you, Kelsi, for sharing these great photos of Annie.

My heart always goes out to Annie as it seemed from the start that she had further to go before she could enjoy her new life…..always timid, needing Missy for support etc. But just look at her now! Keeping favourite blankets to herself, enjoying her food, loving her popsicle and that cheeky face in the first photo with her chow…..well, I think we can safely say, she’s all caught up!

    What’s in MY pocket?
    Well….Not a blankie I can assure you.
But, I definitely like to cover myself in one of those very soft fleece blancket at night in the chair watching TV and with the heating out for the night……very cosy and good for the planet!

Joan, This is my favorite chimpanzee sanctuary as well. Because it is small in number, and has this daily blog, we get to know each chimp personally, their individual personalities, their quirks. I think that makes the biggest difference. We also get to know the people who comment on this blog. They become your friends.
