While on a walk with Jamie, I observed Burrito and Missy following each other on the logs and then start to wrestling. It made me think about when I was young playing king of the sand dune with my brother. I asked the rest of the staff if they had ever played this game when they where kids, which of course they had! Some of their variations were: king of the mountain, king of the hill, and king of the log! The object of the game was to be the last one standing and then you were pronounced king of the object you were standing on, said log, mattress, or hill and then you have bragging rights for as long as you rein! Today, for Missy and Burrito it seems as though no one holds the title but I see a rematch in their future!
Time has flown by! Can you believe it already been 4 years with our wonderful bovines!

Hi, Kelsi!
Sure looks like the Sherriff of Party Police was slacking on the job! I couldn’t tell if it was Annie or Foxie rocking on top of the log at the end, when you declared a draw (should have been Jamie, but that doesn’t seem like her).
We had “king on the raft”, since I grew up on a lake. My dad had recycled 4 ziebart barrels, made a wooden covering, and covered that with canvas. There would be 4 or 5 of us roughhousing out there. The problem was, once that canvas got nice and wet, if too many people sat on one edge and tipped it up high, it was hard not to go sliding down into the water. How we avoided getting hurt smacking ourselves on the wood, I’ll never know!

It’s so precious to see the chimps cavorting in their expanded space, logs & all. I’m sure we’ll see many more of these antics to come. And I gotta say — I’d love nothing more than to wrap my arms around those gorgeous bovine necks for a big hug — in my dreams, that is! What lovely beings they are, gracing the sanctuary land with their presence. Thanks for sharing these photos; they made my day!

It looks as if Meredith has a moo right on the tip of her tongue.
The other day, I saw a herd of cattle standing by a fence in a pasture. How I wish that I could have arranged for transportation for them to relocate to where Meredith, Nutmeg and their mamas live and move and have their being.

Happy Anniversary to Honey, Meredith, Nutmeg, and Betsy. So happy you moooved from CA to Cle Elum. It’s been delightful getting to know you. (I swear it looks as if Nutmeg is getting bigger! Love the last two photos of him.)
Great video. Such fun seeing new games being played in the new surroundings. I think you’ll be seeing King of the Logs being challenged and toppled a lot from here on out. What fun!
