First Snow of 2022!

November 4, 2022 by Sofia Castro-Loza

We officially got the first significant snow fall last night! All the caregivers arrived to work surprised to see this so early in the year when only two or three weeks ago temperatures were in the 80s. Young’s Hill is beautifully covered by snow, but the chimps in Jamie’s group did not find it amusing, probably because it has been raining nonstop. Regardless of the rain, I thought that this morning they would have run outside to get the first taste of snow, but not a single one has stepped outside today. Instead, they have spent most of the day happily nesting on the second floor of the playroom. On the other side of the chimp house, the chimps on Cy’s group spent their second day with access to the new chute, inside and cozy. Many nests were made, and many naps were taken today.

Cy and his friends spent most of the day doing as little as possible in the front rooms.

aw. and they just got back outside!
Sofía, can the remainder of the work on the Bray be done in coller weather?
Hope this was just a fluke, so that there will be a couple of warm days when they still might want to venture out

I saw you were getting snow and rain today! Double whammy and, for my taste, waaaay too soon for snow. But I assume it will melt off quickly and the chimps, on both sides, will be back to their fresh air shenanigans.

    Stay warm everyone!

I love these photos of the snow showing the changing weather over your way ( here in Australia we’re gearing up for very hot weathete)! . Wisely the chimps preferred to nest. do they play games in the snow at all?
Take care and wrap up warm.

I live here in SD it has been really warm for this time of year. Day before I was still in summer clothes. Yesterday 34 and snowing (didn’t stick) Today 60 and nice again. I can understand them wanting to stay indoors. I look forward to the emails daily to see what they are up to. Thank you Willy B for showing us your smile and teeth.

What a rip-off! It’s cold enough for snow to blanket Young’s Hill, but too warm for Burrito and Co. to venture outside to gather up the season’s snow cones without getting their footwear soaking wet. Alas, in due time it is entirely possible that Willy B. Chimpanzee will be presented with the opportunity to sink several of his extent teeth into a snowball.

Question:. Does Cy possess or not possess a.resemblance to the Phillies player who hit three home runs in the World Series game the other night? Cy’s beard has a style to.emulate.

i’m bummed about winter coming too soon because I have these fantasies of the ww nine rushing out into their new outdoor space with sunshine and joy. Have they ever even seen snow? I know it snows once in a while in Southern California. What’s the elevation at the waystation. Maybe they did see snow. hmmmm

Cy again reminds me of Charlton Heston. since I first saw the last photo on August 3, 2021

I tried but I can’t detect a likeness to Charlton Heston but I do agree that Cy is extremely handsome.
