It’s no secret that footwear here at CSNW is an important topic, one that is taken quite seriously. For example- a few months ago before I had my first shift, I had to pick out a pair of work boots online to be my chimp house boots. I am not normally that picky a person when it comes to fashion, but it took me longer than I would like to admit for me to settle on a pair of boots- I was way more concerned about whether Jamie and the other chimps would like my boots than I am about my normal day-to-day fashion choices.
A few weeks ago, a company named Planone reached out to us and asked if we would be interested in receiving a few pairs of their rain boots. They were super cute (and so shiny!) so of course we said yes! They came in the other day and the chimps have been very into them- Jamie, Honey B, Lucky, and Terry have been all about them since they saw them for the first time.
One of the pairs they sent us, a cream yellow short rain boot:
Check out today’s video for more on the chimps reactions! And thanks so much, Planone, for the gift! 🙂
Jamie, completely bliss-ed out about the new boots:
OMG, how sweet! Jamie kissing those yellow boots is my favorite image of the day!
Terry’s mouth must have been dry from all of those raspberries! 🙂
Thanks, Grace! Looks like The Boss most definitely approves!
Wow, I love that Pic of Jamie.
It’s kinda how I feel when I get a new pair of boots !
So exciting.:revolving_hearts:
What a great treat for all concerned, including the boot-wearers and us all! I love the use of the stick and the hose to groom them when they can’t reach. Tool-users galore! And those intent looks — talk about an enriching (and so practical) gift! Must say, those yellow ones are dreamy!
very beautiful.
Many thanks to all that help others.
God bless.
Jamie, I love you! Promise me you will never change.
The way Jamie beelined to those boots made me laugh with joy. I get it. I am personally loving those ankle high boots too.
Thank you Planone for supplying the best and hardest working caregivers with your stylish and functional boots!! Fantastic. Clearly you can see Jamie and Terry were delighted by your boot enrichment generosity.
I thnk that you (and all of of us) are in luck, Kathleen: Jamie is not going to change one iota from being the absolutely fascinating, endearing, exacting chimpwoman that she is. On the fifth anniversary of her Public Service Announcement, I paid a visit to the archives to once again watch her “Ask Jamie” video. “Do Primates make good pets?”, the caption asks. Video of a display follows (whether it is Burrito or her providing visual substantiation to her reply, I cannot tell), but, in five years time, Jamie’s reply of “No” hasn’t changed. She is still the Boss!
OMG, you just made my day!:heart::heart::heart:?. It put a big smile on my face:heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:
is it possible that Terry was more excited than the Boss Lady??? Idk, but they both sure approved! I’m pretty amazed by those yellow ones myself. They look to be well-made, comfy and cute. I think Planone has a new future customer!
Yes! Something had Terry going in the last 2 videos!
Fascinating that the chimps are mesmorized and fascinated with boots! I wonder why so many of them enjoy grooming them?
WHAT IS IT WITH THE DAMN BOOTS?! IT MAKES ME WANT TO GO OUT AND BUY A PAIR FOR YOU? WHAT ABOUT WE START A FUNDRAISER FOR BUYING BOOTS FOR ALL THE CHIMPS? KIDS SIZE OF COURSE! DON’T HAVE TO BE TOO EXPENSIVE, AS ITS ONLY FOR PLAY FOR THE CHIMPS. THE CHIPS WILL ALL GET JEALOUS, AND I DON’T WANT A CHIMP FIGHT TO ENSUE! WHAT DO YOU THINK? NOW WHAT SIZE DOES OR WOULD A CHIMP WEAR?
Hi Joan-
Thank you for thinking about sending boots to the chimps!! Unfortunately, we cannot give the chimps our cleaning boots since they are rubber. Jamie’s group does get cowboy boots for enrichment, but they don’t usually wear them. 🙂 You can see more on our enrichment guidelines here:http://chimpsnw.org/you-can-help/guidelines/
There’s a great photo from days gone by with Jamie wearing a red cowbow boot on one foot. Not sure if actually fit her or if she got to the point of walking around in it but the red certainly suited her personality!
size 8-8.5, for when Jamie thinks the caregivers need to wear them. size 9 if it’s the kind that Jamie can put on
