Mission: Impossible

August 12, 2022 by J.B.

Sometimes the forages on Young’s Hill contain a few extra special treats – something even better than the oranges and primate chow you are currently enjoying.

If you, like Missy here, are lucky enough spot such a treat – a coconut, for example – your work has only begun. Because retrieving the prize may require a daring mission.

You must be stealthy. Drawing attention to the presence of such a treat will only invite competition.

Get in, get out, and no one will be the wiser.

Now, look around. Did anyone see you or the coconut?

Is the coast clear?

Good. Time to grab the loot and escape unnoticed.

Carefully.

Gracefully.

Like a jewel thief.

There is no coconut and you were never there.

Whoopsie daisy…

At least she stuck the landing. And kept the coconut!

Jamie, on the other hand, has no need to fear her coconut being stolen and thus can avoid the indignity of falling off a tightrope.

Negra is a strictly terrestrial mammal regardless of the situation but managed to find some goodies nonetheless.

Jody also enjoyed the forage.

As did Foxie.

Annie found some primate chow placed atop the termite mound. But I think what she really wanted was some of that coconut.

Perhaps Missy found it in her heart to share?

    I’m betting Missy didn’t share….
Even from that far away, you can appreciate those long, slender hands Annie has!
Thanks for all of the pics of Missy doing her James Bond routine, JB!

How many times have we seen Missy sashay across that firehose like an Olympic athlete?! Proving the high value of that coconut. Clearly she was under high stress to be fumbling the ball like that. But as you pointed out, Missy did stick the landing! Mission possible! Well done Missy.

Thanks for the entertaining photo story of the days sunny forage.

Great writing: mystery, intrigue, suspense, who done it (who got it), and a happy ending. Well done!

Great storytelling JB, and photo’s to underline that story, moment by moment…
At first it surprized me that our circus-tight-rope-balancer fell down..
but then I realized that same prised coconut had outballanced her…

Ohhh, JB, what a joy it is to keep reviewing this great set of pics and subtitles to go along. Thanks for sharing all these experiences of the day’s forage. I’ve looked at this posting about 5 times so far. Missy’s balance, coordination, gracefulness, acrobatic prowess and stealth are joys to behold! I think the coconut’s size threw off her balance a bit but her success on that dismount made up for it. Given she could have gotten off the rope at any point, she clearly was choosing those gyrations to keep on it and challenging herself. I’m so glad they have space to explore outdoors, sit on the ground, and feel the wind and sun and look far away without bars.

    Whoopsie daisy :joy::joy::joy:
Reminds me of that hilarious scene from Notting Hill.

    Riveting post JB!

    Missy is captivating, as usual.

JB, you’re quite the creative soul to have come up with this entertaining plot of “Missy V. the Coconut”…Her steely determination is admirable… : ) …I was sitting on the edge of my seat, all the while cheering her on…How great some of her friends found their own goodies…Good job!!!

Nice save Missy! Try-outs for theBucs start next week. Who taught you all those brilliant maneuvers?
Negra had the right slow& ” mellow ” moves to enjoy the hill.
Thank you J.B for the delightful commentary.Do you publish books?

Staight out of “Mission Impossible”. With tight rope acts and all the intrigue one could ask for. Great story J.B.! Hurray for our heroine Missy. So glad she accepted the mission. ?
