Burrito’s Busy Play Day

August 17, 2022 by Kelsi

Burrito had a pretty busy day! It seemed like everyone wanted to play with him, which for Burrito is the perfect kind of day! It was fun to see that even Annie wanted to join in! Burrito and Annie do play and interact with one another. However, they tend to have some miscommunications with each other as well, so to catch a small moment of them having a good time is always a treasure.

It’s hard to decide whether or not to film these fun moments the chimps are having with one another. Pulling out our phones or camera can often distract or stop them from engaging in the interaction with each other, and there are times when it feels like they should just have the time to play and interact without us disrupting them. There are other times when we decide that maybe they are in the moment enough to not notice and we go for it. We never want to interrupt, but we also want to be able to share it! Today was a day I was able to capture these moments without bothering the chimps!

Bonus! Today was a warm one, so what better way to cool down than with a Popsicle!

Foxie approved!

I am so glad you captured that Kelsey! It reminds me of the photo that was taken during the 1st integration when Annie and Burrito were on the other side of the house. The photo where she is biting his shoulder, and the smile on his face, the look of joy, is one that I treasure

A great comparison of play styles! Jody and Burrito played slow and close. I was wondering if the camera was causing Jody to play this way. Then there’s Annie and Mr. B going full throttle silly. And Foxie and Buritto wrestle with a follow-the-leader. (…and Jamie spits and slurps for some fun!)

I often wonder what the chimps think about all the cameras and phones focused on their comings and goings. Of course you put their privacy and needs first. I guess it’s one more obstacle, and an important one, in getting blog images each day. A fantastic moment doesn’t always mean a it’s a great photo op. This reality makes me appreciate your daily posts all the more. Thank you Kelsi.

To me it looks like Jamie is coughing and spitting in the gateraid bath….
I hoop she just choking on something and does not have a cold and cause an epedemic….

I take it that Chad had (needed) the day off after running in a Bubbathon.
