It was recently brought to my attention that we haven’t had a lot of blog posts about Foxie lately. So, I wanted to let everyone know that Foxie is as fantastic as ever.
I did try to get some photos of her today, but I only got a couple of mediocre ones with my phone as Foxie anticipated and then ate the avocado that SofÃa served at dinner:
There’s virtually no where you can go on Foxie’s side of the chimp house without seeing signs of her. Here’s a few photos of Foxie calling cards that I took tonight while spot-cleaning the loft:
I remember several years ago remarking on Foxie’s suddenly gray hair on her arms, which was an undeniable sign of her getting older.
Just last week, however, Foxie did a full flip from a standing position while playing with me. That old lady still has a lot of energy and is way more fit than I am!
Here’s a selection of Foxie photos from the past:
This photo of Foxie:
taken by Katelyn, was the inspiration for this year’s HOOT! graphic, created by loyal blog-reader, Foxie fan, and graphic designer, Kathleen Corby:
It’s true – we are planning an in-person HOOT! fundraising fête this year on September 16th. Stay tuned for more details.
Thank you to everyone who loves Foxie. She is one-of-a-kind and has a way of stealing our hearts every day.

Foxie is the perfect cover girl for HOOT! I love that design. Foxie was so cute making her way to visit Jaymie on a recent blog. Two friends just enjoying each other’s company.

Burrito had a Mike Tyson moment.

She lost a good part of her ear during an altercation with Burrito a few years ago. Read all about it from Anna here: https://chimpsnw.org/2019/09/the-other-side-of-things/

So glad to see photos of Foxie. She is so beautiful and it seems that she is photographed less than the others so please keep her in front of us so we can smile and also know that she is ok! I have a large metal print of the beautiful Ms. Foxie that I purchased at one of the auctions online and she is proudly displayed in my living room! Thanks again for the photos of her.

I do love reading about and seeing all the chimps, but I do feel like I miss the 7 sometimes, so it was very nice to see Foxie today, thank you Diana.
Kathleen, you are very talented.

So good to see a feature on the charming and irrepressible Foxie Chimpanzee. She knows how to pose for a portrait. I love seeing videos of her displaying her acrobatic versatility when she plays with her human friends. When she isn’t too busy getting Jamie to cut loose from her Boss duties, it is heartening to see Foxie play “Pass-the-doll” with her caregivers.

I love the pictures of Foxie and the close ups of her dolls. I am so excited about the HOOT being held in person and in Seattle!!

Thank you Diana, what a great blog all about wonderful ms. Foxie. Whenever I need cheering up I will watch that video of Foxie flipping while playing with Katelyn, and her naughty laugh when she hangs upside down; I call that her Batpose… always makes me happy!
Did you notice that the dolls you found all have their heads back to front…..results of a little punishment by Ms. Foxie maybe?? 😀

Yay Foxie!! I confess, I’ve missed seeing Foxie and her spunky-somersault-heel-spin-playful-uplifting-nature too. There was so much intimacy when the sanctuary consisted of only seven individuals. We were soooooo spoiled to see snippets of their life, seven days a week! However, as I write this, I will also confess that now, I cannot imagine my world without Willy B, Mave, and Honey B! Such an honor to know them. And then, expanding my heart to make room for Cy, Lucky, Dora, Terry, Rayne, and Gordo seemed as easy and natural as breathing. Still, there will always be that “something special” about the Cle Elum Seven in my heart. Seeing Foxie, and her funny calling cards, proves it.
I feel so incredibly fortunate that you share the precious lives of sixteen extraordinary individuals with us each and everyday. This is the best gift I’ve ever received. Well… that and the honor and privilege I feel designing for my beloved family of 16 chimpanzees and 4 cattle. ? Here’s to HOOT! Live and In Person 2022! May September find the world healthy, spinning-on-its-heels-Foxie-happy, and working through conflict and struggles the way chimpanzees do. (What a perfect world it would be.)

As another fund raiser the sanctuary could sell copies of the HOOT! poster. You have one customer already. Love your design Kathleen!
Paulette says
that’s about the best post I’ve ever read Kathleen. I especially identify with “This is the best gift I’ve ever received.” The one good thing about the pandemic lockdowns is that my boredom had me playing around on YouTube where I ultimately found CSNW. Now I can’t imagine life without all of these loves of my life. and my human friends here too.
