Sounds of Sanctuary. LOUD Edition

January 28, 2022 by Diana

Just like humans, chimpanzees have a variety of decibels in which they vocalize, though when they are loud, they are LOUD.

Poor Bubba….looking out the window like. “yeah, I remember hanging out with that cool guy once….”

Very interesting, Diana. I love hearing them vocalize and was quite surprised to hear Mave’s voice since she often seems so “zen” to me. I came home from a long, tiring day, and am so happy to have this blog post greet me! Thank you!

Do any of you keep a secret stash of ear plugs for some of those exuberant displays? I’m kidding of course. I loved the video of Mave and those bright pink lips, she is a doll.

    Go, MAVE!

To paraphrase one of the members of Spinal Tap, (The amplifiers of) these chimpanzees “go all the way up to ‘Eleven’.”

This was hysterical (but I could turn the volume down if I wanted….but I didn’t, I cranked it up bit instead). Negra and her droopy lip, peering into the room but in no way was she going to get up and loose her lunchtime vantage point. I love Queen Nagra. And Jody, Annie, Missy and Foxie in a line, synchronized like the Rockettes, bending down to spy on Burrito!! Great hooting from all! But Mave was the big surprise for me. Wow! For someone who is usually quietly grooming, hugging, and lounging about I was amazed at her athleticism. Wow and Boing! Willy B looks so sweet just spinning in circles with his skateboard, compared to his past drumming I was thinking he being quiet! What fun hearing the different day to day sounds of sanctuary. Thanks!!

Loved every second of the video. Seeing them express themselves with such exuberance just reiterates how safe and happy they feel. No better testament to how devoted all of you are to everyone who calls the sanctuary home.

Poor Cy. It’s a wonder he gets any reading done!

These guys have do much to say, I thought “They should have a blog!” Then I realized, they do!

This is one of my favorite blogs. If you listen closely, they even harmonize. They could be a musical threat to the Von Trappe Family. Instead of “the hills are alive with the sound of music” , the hills would be alive with the hoots of Cle Elum!
