‘Twas the day after Christmas when all through the chimp house, not a chimp was stirring, not even a Lucky.
The stockings were picked through and dismantled from the trees without care. In hopes that the party cleanup crew would soon be there.
The chimpanzees were nestled all snug in their nests, while visions of more presents danced in their heads. Cy with his magazines and blankets had just settled down to watch the movie Shrek.
Out in the yard there was such a loud clatter. Jamie sprang from her nest to see what was the matter. It was just me, making too much chatter.
The chimpanzees all had such a great Christmas! So many new presents! Today was very laid back and a lot of resting after the huge celebration yesterday.
Dora, Rayne, and Terry having a little grooming party this morning. Lucky joined too after I took this photo.
Thank you, Sam! I hope all of you got some rest, too!
No “Boxing Day” jokes from Gordo!?
The one day Gordo wasn’t in a box was boxing day!
What a clever post. Fun to see the “aftermath” clutter of what looked like a grand celebration. The hallmarks of a comfortable “home”.
i always love your blogs/vlogs! we have the same writing stlyle. this probably isnt the place to share this; forgive me if i appear to solicit sympathy. that has never been my attention. my accident happened today 12/25/13 and i was enjected from the car. no matter how hard i try i am saddened every time at this time as my husband was ejected from his truck but he died at the scene. some days i think he was the lucky one…until i got to meet/greet and cut my first granddaughter loose from the umbilicle cord and then all in all got 2 more baby girl granddaughters! bless all of you for giving me something to look forward too daily. any chance theres one more spot for a chimp like me?! merry Christmas
I hear you Stevie. Hugs. We are so fortunate to have all these blessed earthlings here at CSNW that bring us joy each and every day.
Stevie, I am so sorry for the trauma and loss in your life. I understand what you mean when you say that these Blogs/vlogs take you out of your own head. They bring me such happiness and joy and make me forget what I’m dealing with in my life now (and have gone through). Love and peace to you and those precious grandbabies of yours :two_hearts:
I am so sorry to hear that, Stevie!
I am glad that the chimps, like your grandchildren, give you reason to celebrate again, and lift your spirits. As Paulette says, they do the same for me, as well. sending a virtual hug to you
Happy Boxing Day !
Wonderful pictures and lovely poem today,
Merry Christmas :santa::christmas_tree::mrs_claus:
I loved the poetic rhythm of your blog today Sam. Wow! what a mess! LOL. I hope you all get some chill time soon.
Looks like the chimps partied hard!
Love that gigantic litterbox pic……………………
I can see the chimps had a very messy, er, I mean a very Merry Christmas and I trust the rest of you did also. We got quite a bit of snow in north Seattle and I was hoping that when I took my 7 pound chihuahua out that she would trek through the snow like the 7 on Youngs hill, but alas, she wouldn’t even step on the snow. I’ll try again later!
Lol, because the chimps’ legs are longer than 6 inches! your poor baby…!
What a enjoyable blog with great pictures of the celebration. Looks like the chimps had a great party.
Pure entertainment! Very amusing post, plus the pictures of the aftermath are
great fun!
Lucky has a mega nest, no wonder she’s not stirring! Plus, she has some reading material to catch up on. I think Cy is waiting for someone to serve him popcorn before the movie begins.
I hope everyone cooperated and moved from room to room so you could tackle todays after-party clean up. Whew, what a mess — the bigger the mess the better the party!
What a great blog and pictures. I love the new blankets seen in the nests. All the chimps look so happy and relaxed the day after Christmas. So Merry Day after Christmas to all and to all a good night.
When i see the after math of a party i always think about those poor chimps in those horrible small cages and not seeing the sun for years but i am beyond happy you all are taking such good care of them now I hope those terrible memories are gone. thank you all for the awesome job you do.
Sam, thank you for this wonderful story! It was written so sweetly and the photos are awesome! The photo of the Christmas gift explosion room, brought back memories of my four other siblings and myself on Christmas morning. Our livingroom looked a lot like the photo you took! All if your photos are wonderful!:santa:?
