How is it possible?! December birthday celebrations are upon us! Happy Birthday, December friends! We are so grateful for you and hope your special days are filled with magic and wonder.
With so many residents who call the sanctuary home, December is a rare instance in which you folks aren’t sharing your birthday month with a sanctuary birthday twin. For now, April and December are the only months we don’t have birthdays or anniversaries here at the sanctuary, but you know the chimpanzees, they (and we!) always have reason to celebrate, thanks to you.
And of special note, is that you *do* share your birthday month with a member of our extended sanctuary family, Foxie’s daughter, Angie (the 1st), who will be turning 34 on December 21st. Angie has a wonderful home at Save the Chimps in Florida (as do six more of the now adult children of Annie, Jody and Negra) and according to their website, she resides in the same family as Annie’s son, Virgil!
Happy Birthday, Angie!! (Photo credit: Save the Chimps):
Angie’s mama, Foxie:
If ever there were a being full of magic and wonder, it’s Foxie. And while December falls in a season that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, we want you to know how much we appreciate and celebrate you and we hope that each of you has a day full of Foxie-style enchantment and joy. Do a pirouette, hang upside down, go on an adventure, play bite a friend (well, okay, that last one might not go over so well, but hey, it’s your birthday, celebrate how you like).
Rosalie Allen says
Thank you for the great blog and beautiful photos of Foxie. Althoughi will probably only pirouette,
growing up a “tomboy”, i did hang upside down but also had a collection of troll dolls i am sure Foxie would appreciate!
Happy December to all?
Marya says
Great idea, Katelyn. December isn’t my birthday month but thanks for giving me permission to think about walking around with a troll down hanging upside down from between my teeth! The look is a good one for Foxie so she’s a good role model for me to consider this more seriously. I think my choice would be Strawberry Shortcake. A better look for me than a wadge, I think.
Katelyn says
Marya, I’m not sure any of us could pull off a wadge with the charm of the chimpanzees. And I agree, I suspect all of us good benefit from a little Foxie magic in our lives. I’m pretty sure the whole world would benefit. 🙂
Paulette says
When I woke up this morning, with my brain still blurry, and my vision still really blurry with sleep boogers in my eyes, I opened the blog of chimpanzee email on my phone and in little tiny pale blue letters it said “Paulette right this way.” And something about birthdays. And I thought, wait, what? Did I miss a birthday? Oh no!! so I went on to read the blog but realized I hadn’t missed a birthday. So I went back to the email to figure out my mistake and realized it said “Pirouette” not Paulette LMAO!!
so back to the blog, I’m reading about Virgil and I think wait, what? that sounds familiar. I just read about Virgil. Back to my emails and I do a search. Well Save the Chimps highlighted Virgil yesterday in an email!
OK I’m off to wash my eyes, get coffee, and wake up!!!
Happiest birthdays ever for all of you Decemberites!!

Beautiful, charming, adorable Foxie, the Queen of Troll Dolls. She is uniquely qualified to get the Boss to take a break from managing the Human Sanctuary Northwest and cut loose. Thank you for sharing a photograph of equally beautiful daughter.
Kathleen says
Foxie’s daughter Angie is adorable (and sort of reminds me of Honey B). And why wouldn’t Angie be adorable, just look at her mom!
Kim Harris says
I see so much of Foxie in Angie. We can all hope to share Foxie’s exuberance!
So thankful for the sanctuaries filled with people who give so much love and care to ensure these chimps live their best lives possible.

Thanks for the Foxie content, Katelyn!
I saw today’s other post first, and said I prefer Foxie with a side of Jamie, and here it was, all the time!
Angie has her mother’s face, hands.like Annie, ears like Jody….
I have to work on my bday, but will try like crazy to do something Foxie-ish!
Katelyn says
Definitely do something “Foxie-ish” on your birthday, Linda! Hope it’s a wonderful birthday day and month for you!

Thank you!
