Fall is starting to set in real nicely here in the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are nice and the days are sunny for the most part. We do have some rain in the forecast that is supposed to last some time. So to take advantage of this nice sunny mid-60º weather today, Jody’s group had one last forage on Young’s Hill before the rain comes in.
On today’s menu was corn, carrots, beets, and primate chow!

Cy’s group and Willy B’s group were also treated to a lunch of corn, carrots, and beets, along with their primate chow.
After lunch, every body spent most of the afternoon snoozing. Well, almost everybody.
Cy had to catch up on some afternoon ready:
And Mave spent her time soaking in as much sun as she could:

A beautiful day, indeed, Chad! Thanks for the pics!

What beautiful photographs, and what a beautiful and wond’rous community of chimpeople. It is heartening to see the chimpsters gathering and eating their nourishment, and, in Mave’s case. to soak in some Vitamin D. From the looks of it, it appears that Cy continues to consider possible destinations for a vacation getaway.

Somewhere warm and sunny I suspect…?

I love the photos, today and every day. Cy’s foot! And Mave my Fave! Thanks for sharing, every day. I look forward to my little fix.

I’m pretty sure there are few places that can match the beauty of Young’s Hill, Cle Elum, WA on a sunny day. Especially when the hill has seven chimpanzees enjoying a forage.
I don’t recall seeing the gang with corn on the cob w/husks on. Funny seeing the wispy corn silk. Do they eat or chew (wadge) on the husks or strip the husks off and just chomp on the sweet corn?
And then there’s studious Cy and contemplative Mave. The perfect ending for the day.

I can’t believe it’s mid October and 60°. It seems like just yesterday you were in unbearable heat. It’s just mind-boggling how fast time has gone by.
Does your ground freeze real hard in the winter? i’m asking because I can’t wait for those fence posts to go in and all the wires to be strung, and the Bray to be opened, so that every chimp can enjoy a fun filled forage on a beautiful day. I’m so impatient for them to have that!
in the meantime, I’m looking forward to the six experiencing SNOW!
Paulette says
About the Bray… Has anything started? Perhaps we could get an update?
CarolR says
It’s so good to see them enjoying their forage……lovely Annie sitting relaxing on a log, Burrito with both hands full as usual, and Farmer Jo making sure she carries as much as possible, just to make sure she does’t go hungry! Negra seems to do well at forages too, and I love to see her outside with her friends.
Question….I use photos for my screensaver and on the lead up to Jamieween, I have a wonderful one of someone, standing in the playroom with their head bent over completely in a hollowed out pumpkin. Who is it? I feel like it’s goofy enough to be Burrito but would the Chief Pumpkin Thief allow that?
Paulette says
Or the next…oh Chad! If you can find the picture CarolR is talking about I would love to see it! Repost it in next blog, Or the next…
Kathleen says
I remember that photo! Hysterical, and I too have that funny feeling it might have been our silly Burrito diving into the bottom of his big orange orb for the seeds or sweetness at the bottom. Thanks Carol for reminding me of that precious funny image.
Benjamin says
I think the photos you are looking for are in either the October 31 or the November 1 blogs from 2011. Burrito on the 31st and Foxie On the 1st.
CarolR says
Many thanks Benjamin, I hadn’t gone back far enough, but YES! it’s our comedian, Burrito of course.
Paulette says
Found it!
Too funny:joy:

I absolutely adore every single photo today! I always look forward to reading the Blog first thing in the morning. All of the beautiful Chimpanzees have stolen my heart and ALL of them are my FAVORITES! It still amazes me that we only live a few short hours drive away! We’re preparing for the rain as well. Fall in Washington is stunning! Always good for foraging or reading a magazine! Hugs and lots of Love to the stunning Chimpanzees and the totally devoted amazing Team!??
