Yesterday, fellow caregiver Anthony gave us great insight on the history of magazines and provided some amazing pictures AND a video of Sir Cy enjoying one of them. Today has been no different for Cy. While all the other chimps in his group were resting or perched in the top platforms of the green houses, Cy has been carrying around the same magazine since 11AM. We give them so many to choose from that I found very interesting how much this one magazine has caught his attention today. He would move from enclosure to enclosure with the same one. I managed to get him on camera skimming through it with such intensity in his eyes while hanging out in the second level of their play room. The magazine of the day was not about famous artists or gossip, but about food! As a highly food motivated person, I can say his content of choice today is on point. Great choice, Cy!
Here he is holding his magazine pick of the day in one of their green houses.
He then brought it back inside to the play room. Look how concentrated he is, I bet there’s a really good recipe on that page. My current goal is to retrieve said recipe, once he is done with it, of course!
Dora, forever a huge fan of the platforms in their green houses.
Gordo was all about his feet while perched on one of the platforms.
EXTRA: A beautiful Rayne spotted standing on one of the barrels, she was probably on some sort of undercover mission.
how much larger is this space from the place they had….?
Yes, Sofía, imagine what it will ve like if it occurs to hum to place an order with the kitchen!
To be honest, I was thinking of them looking through the supermarket’s publication today…they had small cups filled with “flowers”: cherry tomatoes on the end of wooden picks, cucumbers in flower shapes with slices of red pepper as stems…and dip anchoring them in the bottom of the glass (but you could use hummus).
P. 8 of the May issue of Stop n Shop’s “Savory”.

Oh my! I think I found my chimp soulmate! I LOVE food magazines, too and find myself gazing at them as well!! I think I love Sir Cy!!
Sir Cy, love the title.
It seems like the more people we have to love, the more my heart just overflows with love. How lucky we are to get to add the Lucky Six to our chimp family!
Hi Sofia, have you checked with Chad, perhaps Sir Cy is working with him planning a new party? My guess is Cy is collecting recipes for Chad’s menu. 🙂
Dora looks lovely with her freckles along her lips and her ‘bed head’ shoulders. Gordo and those feet! And Rayne, who just a little bit seems to be reminding me of Honey B with that deadpan stare. Each day a new peek at the Lucky Six, thanks Sofia for today’s snapshots!
Given Cy’s chirping while paging through his magazines yesterday, I wonder if he might enjoy a subscription to the American Journal of Ornithology. I recall a Wednesday afternoon in the Autumn of 2019 when, oblivious to a squabble between some of her neighbors, Negra leisurely contented herself with the October issue of (one presumes, given the contents smeared between the pages) Peanut Butter Illustrated. Perhaps Cy would also like a subscription? Neggie sure looked as if she was devouring the contents…
Is anyone else questioning whether the Boss Lady & Sir Cy might possibly be second cousins…Twice removed??? Ha…
I’m really enjoying getting to know your six new family members!!! For approximately the past fifty or more years, I’ve had a lifelong passionate interest in all great apes, but chimps, in particular, fascinate me beyond explanation…(& I’ve always loved cows because of those sweet faces of theirs)
Your love & dedication to the wellbeing of exploited chimps (& the bovine 4) fills me with pure emotion…
It just tickles me that Sir Cy enjoys magazines so much and now that i know he is a food lover and the most beloved magazine of all in that stack you gave him just happens — no, it didn’t ‘just happen’ — we now know there was a definite reason for why that one was his favorite. SMART just doesn’t describe him. And I just love the “Sir Cy” title.
