When I was opening up the chimp house this morning I found Negra still resting in the Greenhouse. She knows how to make a comfy looking nest!
Annie exploring Young’s Hill in the morning.
Missy close behind Annie.
Jody watching the others on the hill.
After her walk around Young’s Hill Missy was eating breakfast with style.
Foxie cooling off in the front rooms.
After lunch Missy went around and picked up all of the leftover cucumber pieces.
I was attempting to get get some photos in the afternoon and Burrito just wanted to play. So I stopped taking photos to get a little workout in.
It is very hard to catch this guy being still! He was resting after many play sessions with Chad. It didn’t last for long! By the time I was uploading this photo he was ready to play again.
Honey B was making such a good nest of blankets, troll dolls, her scooter, and some scarves that I was trying to get a photo of it. I got the Honey B stare instead 🙂
I worked with The Lucky Six a couple of times last week and here are some of the photos I was able to get. I am really enjoying getting to see their personalities more as the continue to open up with us! I didn’t work with them today, but as I was performing safety checks Terry was in my line of vision from a distance ready to play!
Gordo right before a game of chase started.
Dora and her sweet face.
Cy is definitely going to steal some hearts around here!
These posts always make my day that much brighter. Thanks as always.
I do have a question. Dora looks smaller than the others. Like my Foxie. Is she or is it just the photo?
Yes, indeed, they said she is tiny like Tiny!
Yes she is tiny!
Thank you for the wonderful photos. I love looking at their relaxed faces.
Nice of you to give Chad a breather, Sam!
Thanks for the pics!
What was the Boss up to all of this time? The usual?
She was napping in a boot nest in front of one of the fans! She thought about a walk, but decided against it.
Smart woman
Wonderful selection of photos of the tribe. First thing I look for when I open the I-pad. The chimps are a delight to follow!
Love all of the pictures. Thanks for sharing
Sam, the pictures are wonderful. I can’t get over how spectacular the green houses are and how much the chimps seem to enjoy them. Thanks to all the staff who love and take such good care of all the residents of the Sanctuary.
Brilliant photos! Cy is definitely stealing my heart, I would really like to know what he’s thinking. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your busy day with us.
Well…. I just realized what a slow-moving train I am. Dora? As in Dora the real Dora? Or Dora the doll Dora? Or has the real Dora morphed into the Real Dora? Or is it the other way around? It only took me …… how long? Geez….
Great photos as always. I love ALL of the chimps and the new neighbors on the block are fitting in like they were always there. But my heart, my heart has always belonged to Negra. xxoo
Hi Sam! Seeing Neggie in the greenhouse goes back to my question to Diana the other day. I wonder if Negra spent the night camping out or does she rise early and head out at sunrise/daylight. 🙂
One thing I know for certain, Negra snoozes in style!
Thanks for the photos of our beloved seven. What dear friends they’ve become after all these years. I found myself instantly smiling and feeling cozy familiar looking at them. Funny how Burrito gets to rest but poor Chad still has to keep working after his workout!
And thanks for sharing your glimpses of the Lucky Six. Dear little Dora with the white polka dots on her face. And Gordo and Cy are quite the charmers!
Sam, thanks for this array of photos and sharing your experience with us. They certainly all have distinct personalities and it’ll be wonderful as the new 6 emerge more as time goes on. For now, it’s enough to know that they are adjusting and seem to enjoy and are not too stressed by their move. From previous posts it seems that with Cy we have another reader among the gang to join Jamie! Maybe ultimately they’ll create a book club together (should they be able to mingle) — ha!
Oh I’ve been SO enamored with the new kids on the block, and the new playrooms and the new greenhouses, I was starting to feel guilty.
I was missing the OGs-Cle Elum 7. And the 3. I need my True Love Valentine Burrito. And precious sleepy Negra. I always love seeing her outdoors, especially because I know how much she loves(d?) to sleep in.
*****Isn’t it amazing – the infinite capacity of our hearts?*****
No matter how much we dearly love our Jamie, Jodi, Annie, Missy, foxy, Negra, burrito, Honey, Willy, Maeve – there’s still room for SO much love for the new kids!
Paulette, your comments brought tears to my eyes (in a good way). I agree about the capacity of the human heart and about the joy that being a part of the sanctuary brings me every day, including knowing that people like you are “out there” being such an active participant in the lives of all the beings who call the sanctuary home, including caregivers, volunteers, board and donors as well as the non-human beings who are at the center of all things.
Isn’t it amazing how our hearts touch other hearts?! That is how love spreads near and far. We humans, with our infinite capacity of love, are the only ones in this whole wide world who can protect all other species. It’s up to us.
Paulette, I totally agree, even though some species have been known to exhibit altruistic behaviors, we have a huge responsibility to embrace. I’m grateful so many people do so and wish more did.
