Honey B likes to build nests with blankets, toys, paper and boxes. We discovered yesterday that Honey B builds forts. Earlier this week, caregiver Anna and I found a broken down box that we put out for enrichment. As we cleaned the Mezzanine, we noticed the box wasn’t just in the nest as nesting material, but setup almost like a barricade (no photo was taken). Fast forward to yesterday, when we set out more boxes, not really thinking they would actually build a fort. Anna and I were almost done with the day, just finishing up our last checks, when Anna called me on the radio to come look.
It was magnificent! A perfectly circled box fort, with a built in green bench to complete the fort! It looked almost too perfect. We actually had to text our volunteer Lisa to ask if she had set it up. With her confirmation that she did not make the fort, Anna and I could say with confidence that this was Honey B.
I mean, just look at the craftsmanship!
While Honey B built her walls, there were walls being built outside her window this week. The expansion is really coming along!
For Honey B, boxes can be used for other things. This morning, as Anna served the three breakfast, Honey B really wanted to drink some juice that was meant for Mave. In an effort to get the cup off the table, she slyly pushed her flattened box out to its full extent. We couldn’t say no to such a clever attempt, so of course Honey B got to drink some juice as well.
We just absolutely love Honey B. Life is never boring with her by your side 🙂

Honey B Is one smart cookie, and adorable to boot.

Honey B reminds me of Jamie. I still have the photos of Jamie’s kitchen and laundry basket fort. Too bad they can’t be together. What an architecture team they would make!

I have often thought that. Plus, she shares Annie’s fashion sense. There are so many things that she has in common with the others.

I’ve always loved chimps. As a kid in 1969 I requested Mr. Chimp for Christmas and I got it. I love the chimps and Honey B is so smart. I’m glad they have a place that is safe.

Mine was a black and yellow stuffed one, sans banana, in the style of Mr Bim. I called it “Judy” after the Daktari show

I didn’t have a “Mr. Chimp” but in the 1960’s I did have a Steiff-like stuffed chimp that looks very similar to Steiff’s “Jocko”. My chimp is better looking than Jocko. Jocko has bulging frog-like eyes and mine has such a sweet felt face. I still have my chimp and he sits up in my studio looking almost as good as new. A lifelong friend. : )
He sits alongside a stuffed “Mr. H” that I purchased when I saw Jane Goodall speak. They are the same size and after all these years of being surrounded by dogs, I believe my Mr. Chimp is very happy to finally have a companion that looks like him.

I wish mine had survived. My young nephew tried to flush her down the toulet when I was 9….

How fabulous! Honey B. Is fascinating!

Okay, call me crazy but there is no doubt in my mind that Honey B has been studying the construction crew and their wall building techniques! Clearly she’s an excellent student. The fort is perfect, complete with desk and I see a chair too. Honey B is all set for her next zoom meeting.

Kathleen, that’s exactly what I first thought, too! She’s watching the construction of walls and is extrapolating that for herself with the materials on hand — or at least I agree with your theory!! Smart woman, and very strategic! What a smartie!

What a clever girl our Honey B is! She is going to give Jamie a run for her money! Haha! She sure looks like Missy in the second picture from the bottom. : )

She’s obviously a double spy, with skills. I’ve been trying to help my 5 years old Granddaughter Graepsie build forts but none compare to Honey B’s….if that’s even her real name. Lolol

Quite the craft builder. Pretty darn uncanny. I love her. ?
