Willy B and the Tale of the Slinky

September 24, 2019 by Kelsi

Willy B’s wild side is out and we have proof! Willy loves slinkys as we may have talked about before, but today he took it to another level. He was wearing it around his ankle and kickin’ his legs, he was wrapping himself in it, and he was flipping upside and flinging the slinky around! If you don’t believe me just check the video out for yourself. If you weren’t smitten with Willy B enough, get ready to love him even more! We are so glad to have these 3 new additions at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest and it is so fun to get to know Willy B, Honey B, & Mave more and more everyday.

This video made me laugh out loud. Thank you for sharing.

Also, I apologize if this has already been asked: why are Willy B.’s wrists hairless?

Wow, this looks like a hilarious aerobics workout……If it was designed by a drunk, well monkey 🙂

Perhaps you could show Burrito a video of Willy B playing with his slinky. If Burrito recognizes a kindred spirit it might help with introductions between the two.

I was thinking the same thing, Eileen!

    Hi, Kelsi!
Were you able to show him the YouTube slinky videos that I linked before? (am on phone now, so will try to link again, but no promises). “Ridiculous things you can do with a slinky”, and “amazing slinky tricks”-about 1 min each.

Hi Linda, I have to apologize! I haven’t gotten to show Willy B the videos yet! I know he would LOVE to watch though. I will try this week!

I think Willy B needs a “skip it” I will see if I can find one 🙂

Haha, I have one or two in a donation bag right here! Don’t know if he could do it, though he’d probably love staff to do it so he could watch! But there’s a jongle bell inside that they might detach, and it could be a choking hazard. Let’s see what Kelsi says

I so wish they could have a skip it! I am sure they would have so much fun with it! However, I am certain it would not get approved for enrichment 🙁

Thanks for the last statement, Kelsi….so it turns out that the jingle bell was in the one I had as a child…..this one has a plastic ring, cord wrapped in plastic, and a ball made of interlocking plastic pieces…..if it were in perfect shape, actually, I think we might get away with it, but the plastic pieces on the ball look as though they’re gettng old and splitting

Proof # 81,972 that apes are more intelligent, advanced, and all around cooler than human primates: Willy can give his slinky a major workout and it still works. In contrast, my own experience with said product (the metal iteration thereof) usually lasted less than the length of this video before the wires became a hopelessly tangled mess. Life is often unfair…

Absolutely fabulous!! He could take that show on the road!! What a character! Love and hugs to you and thank you so much for this precious footage…

Two words : Creative Genius. Willy B’s last slinky video had me laughing out loud and todays video did it again. The slinky bracelet kick-back move killed me. Willy B has some serious slinky moves, and like Tobin points out, how is it the slinky isn’t totally tangled and destroyed after this show stopper performance?!

How did you ever film this and not crack up? And I am not sure you should show this to Burrito, I fear he’ll be very jealous. ; )

It was so hard not to giggle while he was playing with it! It was so fun to watch him having fun!

Great video!! I never had good luck with a slinky. I always ended up with a tangled mess. Willy B showed me that I didn’t have the right moves.

OMG is this funny. How you just happened to be there with your camera at that precise time amazes me. Someone should forward the video to the Slinky company….maybe they would PURCHASE it for a handsome sum to use in commercials for their product. That would mean more money every time it is used too. Thanks for giving me a good laugh
