Getting ready for next month!

July 11, 2019 by Anna

Since we’re expecting our new residents with an ETA of next month, we’re getting down to adding the final touches to the new expansion. This means it’s time to buy some cleaning items for the new chimp area! We’re ready to fill up the cupboard, shelves, and supply racks with items like…

New laundry baskets!

Scrub brushes!

Scrapers and pans!

Brooms!

and buckets!

You can find all that and more on our Amazon Wish list! We can’t wait to start providing top notch care for Honey B, Willy B and Mave! These supplies are important tools for keeping their new home clean and comfortable!

Anna…I know what the new chimp area will be filled with the most…L O V E…I practically shake with excitement every time I think about the arrival of Willy & Honey B. & Mave…I can only imagine everyone’s anticipation & awe of these magnificent animals…I would give almost anything to be able to look through a window somewhere (unobtrusively, of course)as everything unfolds…The excitement will be so palpable, that you’ll literally be able to feel it in the air…I pray all goes well & according to plan…
I think one of the most exciting times for me personally will be when the new chimps eventually realize they’re in “Chimp Heaven” & we can see them relaxing outside on Young’s Hill & playing or just acting silly…Won’t be long now… : )

This is so exciting as you prepare to welcome 3 more beautiful chimpanzee souls to the Sanctuary family. Will the 3 newbies be housed together at first and will the 7 long time residents be able to see them or will you keep them completely separated for awhile? I mean the 7 from the 3. I can imagine it will be quite chaotic and confusing for everyone for awhile but I am hoping in time that everyone will become one big family.
    Can’t wait! This is wonderful!

The two groups will be able to see each other through windows, but will be separated until at least the quarantine period is over. The three incoming chimps will be together though.

There’ll be LOTS of screaming, you can bet. I’m interested in seeing how the power hierarchy plays out with Jamie.

      Cheers.

In regards to your wish list on Amazon, is your address associated with all orders? If it isn’t, what is your mailing address?
    Thank you.

    Hi Anna!
I’ve been away for a week (back “home” to the Midwest), but I’ve been following everything on my phone.
    This is exciting!
How will you get the 7 to shift away from the Hill, so that the other 3 may enjoy it? Or have you left that for later to think about?

      Hi Linda,
We have to close the hill at night before staff can go home so the chimps do come out of the area at this point. We will also be installing an additional door that keeps them from having contact in the raceway before it’s time to introduce them.

This is so monumental. I am very excited for the official arrival of Honey B, Willy B and Mave. Wow! You must feel so excited to be offering these three new chimp people a whole new life. I’m speechless with anticipation! Best of luck to everyone as you move forward.

This is so amazing. To be able to “set 3 chimps free” of what they
have been enduring for so long has to bring tears and smiles all at
once. I cannot wait to see them roaming around as normal chimps
would in the wild – free to be. Congratulations on all that you have
    done for them.

Eeeeeee!! I am super excited to see the 3 newbies and the reunification of mother and daughter after so long! Will they recogonize each other?
