Yesterday Burrito was still pretty wiped from his procedure on Wednesday, so we let him get the rest he deserved! After a procedure we like to give the chimps a chance to recover and make sure they can hold their own before going back with the group. Burrito was much more himself today. We were so glad that after breakfast Burrito was able to go back in with his friends and they seemed pretty glad to have him back as well. Jody of course was very worried about him, but Jamie is the chimp that surprised us the most. Today, especially Jamie was gentle and kind to Burrito. There were many sweet moments with everyone, so I thought I would share a few!

Lol, I noticed Neggie wasn’t in the welcoming party!
Glad he’s okay, though he does still seem a bit woozy, and his toe-tap is temporarily turned off! Has Curious George lived to see another day?
Hi Linda! Yes, Negra welcomed him from afar at first :). Burrito still isn’t quite himself, but so much better than the day before. Curious George has made it another day! I think he is scheduled to go out in the enrichment tomorrow!
Thanks, Kelsi…Aaah, so George is on lockdown at night! Smart thinking! 😀
Glad to see my sweet boy back.
Oh my sweet boy. He does look a little bit fuzzy but it is simply wonderful to see him up and about. How good it must feel to come out of the haze and find yourself surrounded by those you love. Together they have formed the best family. Thanks for the video and photos Kelsi, I’ll sleep better tonight!
Yeah, the poor little guy *does* look a bit out of it, doesn’t he? Like “What the hey happened here? What did I do?” Hope his twinkle comes back in the next couple of days…….this is like watching Burrito in slo-mo
Wow, you can tell the girls are trying to figure out what happened to him.
and they think he smells different.
Poor little guy seems a little out of it still.
Watching Burrito’s girl fan club& family check him out so gently made me cry.Anesthesia is so hard on all of us…especially us seniors.Praying for you, Sweet Boy.You will be making us all smile& laugh soon.Rest up, fuzzy boy.
Really touching!! Just so beautiful how human they are!! So glad to see he’s returning to vibrant good health and in such good Nurse company!! Love and hugs to you all…
Bless his heart. The ladies were taking such good car
Thumpa thumpa thumpa goes my heart. Very sweet.
What adorable pictures. Thanks for letting us see his welcome home by his roommates. Just precious.
Mr. B! So glad he is on the mend. Really good to see him back with his friends and enjoying some sunshine.
What procedure did Burrito have done?
This post explains it! https://chimpsnw.org/2019/05/burrito-and-the-new-veterinary-clinic/
Heartwarmingly and heartbreakingly touching… never ceases to amaze me the dynamics and the individual personalities that are so clear to us through these great posts! As always.. thank you.. lots of love going out to Burrito!
The second photograph is amazing: when you expand it and look closely, Foxie and Missy really do look like slightly puzzled but engaged medical professionals examining a patient whose diagnosis is proving difficult to pin down.
