The sanctuary is located in the Cascade mountain range near the base of a relatively small peak known as Lookout Mountain. Missy sees this as both an opportunity and a responsibility.
The chimps have two acres of outdoor space to roam but they spend much of their time on the elevated platforms taking in the view.
Railings on these platforms serve different purposes, depending on whether you are a human or a chimp. Do not try this unless you have opposable toes.

Lol, unless you have opposable toes AND your adventure pants on!
Speaking of adventure pants, it seems like Miss Foxie Chimpanzee also enjoys this spot. I like that you’ve put a bit of a roof on that one spot, so that they can get some shade in the summer while they’re on the lookout.
Is Foxie’s doll going grey!? 😀

I can see why they enjoy the view, it is beautiful!

Oh what I would give to climb up to the very top and take in that magnificent view! I am so jealous. Not even sure I have coordination to climb the tower, opposable toes or not. ; ) I remember a post from a few years back where the staff/volunteers were placing forage on Young’s Hill and some photos showed them on the structures, even the shaky bridge. Looked like so much fun.
And I love these photos!

Sweet post! Love seeing them together like this. And o boy, there are those lovely opposable toes, so very useful, how I need them as I scramble up my rockery and through forests on hikes, etc.

Both you and the chimps have such a wonderful view and live in such a beautiful place I feel quite envious. It’s no wonder they love to sit and watch The view
