I thought she was just going to wadge the peel, not swallow it!
Lol, I guess oranges aren’t as worthy of “Dinosaur grunts” as pumpkins are! 😀

Nourish that precious little bod Jody!

Since I can’t imagine eating the pith and peel (beyond a quickie grate of the peel for a flavorful burst mixed into a recipe) I got the feeling after seeing Jody enjoying her entire snack hat it must be good for you so I Googled ‘nutrients in an orange peel’. And the answer surprised me, who knew?! Those chimps are so smart. Here is what Jody already knows and what I just learned :
“3.5 ounces of orange peel provides 136 milligrams (mg) of vitamin C, while the flesh contains about 71 mg. Orange peel also contains considerable amounts of calcium, copper, magnesium, vitamin A, folate and other B vitamins and dietary fiber.”

Thank you CSNW for keeping the gang healthy and well, inside and out. And thank you for teaching me new tidbits of information. It is always such fun to have a new view on things! XOXO

Now I am off to eat a juicy orange, pulp only!

I noticed a circular looking growth on Jody’s left arm. Is that new? Has Dr. Missy had a look at it (or, failing that, Dr. Erin?)

Hi Tobin! That’s just a minor wound that recently was reopened during grooming. The chimps are usually pretty on top of caring for their own and each other’s wounds, but we also keep an eye on them. Thanks for your concern!
