A Little Slice of Heaven for Jamie

April 14, 2019 by Kelsi

Jamie was in for quite a surprise today. A very kind friend sent Jamie a package of her favorite things. There was a folio and bag filled with pictures of boots, pictures of Jamie wearing boots, books of other primates, and a calendar of some oh so cute pit bulls! Jamie was satisfied all day! So satisfied that I have barely seen her. Like guys, she didn’t even ask for a walk today! On top of getting such a great package, Jamie also got to supervise activities going on in the new expansion area. Jamie had a really hard time choosing between lounging in her extravagant nest and enjoying her new gifts or observing what was going on in the other room! Watching the chimps get excited about their favorite things always warms my heart. Enrichment really does help these 7 chimpanzees’ lives. So thank you everyone for your support!

I mean doesn’t this just scream Jamie:

Jamie perusing the goods:

Jamie incorporating her favorite things of the day into her nest:

Time to relax:

A look at her amazing and intricate nest:

However, there were people unsupervised on the job so Jamie had to go back to work:

And one extra photo of Jody laying all sprawled out:

I am sure I am not the only one who gets a lump in their throat every time I visit the sanctuary site on line. I wish I could beam myself over to Cle Elum whenever I wanted and.visit these kids. Love.them immensely.

Oh. My. God. You bet I am bursting with joy seeing Jamie with all of my goodies surrounding her. I hope Jamie had fun with my package and thanks for including the crayons and colored pencil as promised. : ). My two loves, pit bulls and chimps, what could be better together?!

Jamie, if you are reading this (and I somehow think you just might be) I send you all my love and I wish you sweet dreams in your nest full of surprises all selected with love and with you in mind. Love always, XOXOXO, Me

That was a brilliant idea, putting in the colored copies, Kathleen! I’ve thought of it, but only have access to colored printers at work, and wondered how I would explain making copies of boots at the library….well, it’s my research money, right!? Maybe some day I’ll be a copy cat……

Jamie is teaching me how to be retired. We can learn so much from her and her cohort.

What a lovely gift from Kathleen. And, so sweet to see how much Jamie enjoyed everything. I feel so happy knowing that so many people care so much for these chimps. We are all in this together for the chimps’ sake!

    Oh, wait a sec!
Kathleen, did you send a copy of the photo book “Monkey Portraits”? ‘Cause I sent one, and I see a copy peeking out there!
