Spring Dreaming

March 12, 2019 by Elizabeth

Winter has hit us pretty hard over the past month or so, and while the chimpanzees aren’t complaining (snow is a delicacy!), the humans are ready to move on. Spring is one of everyone’s favorite times of year at the sanctuary – the air is warm, the grass is soft and sweet, and life is good. Can you feel it? Here’s to looking forward (by looking back):

Hope you guys get some warm temps soon! We’re in the 40s/50s this week, and we really haven’t had much snow here on the island this winter, anyway-we’re “chahmed”.
That top pic of Jo is so lovely.
I can’t decide which says “I’m so grateful to be outdoors!” more…….Missy’s galloping around, or Jody’s look of joy every time she goes outside!

Or is that top pic Negra? I can’t tell if those spots are someone’s freckles, or sun dapples!

It’s Jody. 🙂 I’m so impressed with your chimp ID skills!

Aw, shucks, thanks! The easiest way to start is the three without freckles (Jody, Annie, Foxie). Jody’s got that long face and sort of gargoyle ears. From the back her backside protudes, like Jamie’s does. Annie, it seems, has a stronger brow ridge than Foxie, plus those hands! and the bedhead. Foxie being smaller, and hunched over….and on an on….:D

Are prints of photos available for purchase?
That first pic, of Jody, is stunning!

Hi Laurie – Unfortunately, we don’t have photos to purchase. We do have some photo prints for donor gifts, but we typically only print a few different photos at a time. I love that Jody photo, too!

It’s a very good one……could/should be an option for those who choose Jody to sponsor! (although the one from this winter, where she was in the snow, watching out for those on patrol, was also one of her best, imo).

Jody with her big, lovely relaxed bottom lip always brings a smile to my face. Seeing Negra out in the tall grass has the same effect on me. Thanks for the green photos! It is hard to imagine a more beautiful place than Young’s Hill in springtime. Good news for all of us, next Tuesday we will celebrate the Spring Equinox (March 19th). Bring it on!!

If you did create prints, all you would need to do is add a heartwarming quote to the top photo of Burrito meditating in the grass and you’d have a best selling print for sure! Beautiful greens, beautiful dear Mr. B looking dreamily skyward, seriously destined to be sought after. (Just saying!) : )

If you have an annual auction, those would be good items (framed copies). I’d bid on that top one! 😀
