When Jamie Makes her Bed

November 4, 2018 by Kelsi

As many of you know, Jamie is a very intricate nest builder. Her nests are often woven in the caging, tied to objects, and she is even known to build a fort or two. Jamie also must have her boots incorporated in her nest. Sometimes her boots are weaved into the nest and sometimes the boots have to be even closer to her like in her pelvic pocket. All these examples can be seen in the video or the photos!

Jamie’s finished work:

However, Jamie had to also watch the volunteers clean and lay on her barrel:

Jamie’s other nest today had her tool play set tied to it:

How absolutely adorable is that? She even knows where to go to get fresh blankets!

Oh, that Jamie……….don’t ever give her spoon and a poster of Rita Hayworth! 😀

Do you think that the amount of time the chimps spend sleeping/napping is equivalent to the amount of time chimps in the wild do?

That is a good question regarding the Seven’s sleeping
habits. I know they must spend quite some time
foraging in the wild. So I wonder if their routine
would be that much different in the sanctuary.

You can see her ponder as to her next move. Is the hair brushing a learned behavior and how did they learn to tie knots? These chimps amaze my brain and heart.

I can spend my days watching these videos.

I don’t know for certain, but Jamie and Burrito both spent the first years of their lives growing up among humans. Jamie also knows how to file her fingernails, and if you look carefully, when she’s drawing, she’s holding the pen “Properly” (says someone who doesn’t). I was happy to see that Jamie is left-handed……the best people are, you know! 😉

So incredibly beautiful it takes my breath. She’s just adorable! Hugs and love to you all…

The hair brushing just killed me!! Thank you everyone for giving Jamie EVERYTHING she needs and desires. She deserves nothing but the best and you all deliver!

If that isn’t the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen — Jamie brushing her hair. Tie a knot? Who says animals are dumb. Reaching for a fresh supply of blankets, unbelievable.

Although I’ve followed Dr Fouts and Dr. Jane G.’s information there is so
much to learn. I am constantly amazed at these wonderful creations.
