This morning Missy and Foxie went from climbing structure to climbing structure on Young’s Hill and licked as much frost as they could.
It was 30° but the sun and the promise of adventure enticed them to stay for awhile.

Lol, who was it that double-dog dared them!? Glad the structures are wooden, not metal! And hope they don’t get slivers in their cute pink tongues! Especially Foxie!. Thanks for posting!

Maybe its just my fear of heights, But do you
ever worry that they will fall?
Its that second picture of Missy on the ledge looking down that kinda
stopped my heart, and made me think about it.
I think she’s is a bit of a daredevil !

From our human perspective, it can be a little dizzying to see them perched precariously so high up like that. But chimps are natural tree-dwellers. They’re strong and agile with incredible balance, and they are most in their element off the ground.

Hi CeeCee…I know what you mean about your fear of the Chimps falling…especially when they’re up so high…Sometimes I actually cringe & have to look away, because I’m a “worrywart,” too…even though I know it’s unfounded…HaHa..I also closely follow a family of magnificent Chimps in Japan…(They just FASCINATE me beyond any logical explanation… just like the Cle Elum seven do)…Now the Family has a set of LITTLE twin baby girls who are so darn cute & playful, that it’s almost *painful*…HaHa…I could happily watch them for hours on end…They probably don’t even weigh much more than six or seven lbs. each, so they still have their sweet little “pink” ears, muzzles, hands & feet…Whenever they start playing on some of the lower slung ropes in their enclosures, or playing on top of their outdoor tower, (They just hitch a “ride” on Mama’s back… : ) … I get SO anxious, but their dear attentive, & LOVING Mama is always close by to supervise them…I also notice these little babies
always seem to need reassurance that she’s near them since they frequently stop what they’re doing to glance her way… : )

Cracks me up that they enjoy licking the frost. Missy and Foxie are much tougher than me, temps hitting 30 deflate my sense of outside adventure. Perhaps if I could climb the tower and see that breathtaking view I would become more adventuresome. Don’t they look magnificently gorgeous high on top of their sunny world?!
