Sun Salutation

October 17, 2018 by Anna

Occasionally we find the chimps in the most luxurious looking yoga-like poses (Happy Baby Pose is a common one for Negra)! Today I found Annie in this sort of seated Pigeon Pose as she soaked up the sunshine pouring into the playroom. I suspect that she started out by grooming her leg, but then found it reasonably comfortable to maintain the stretch for a while as she took in the view from the catwalk.

Haha. That’s one great pose. I also stretch my leg like that…like minded women.

She looks so peaceful, comfortable and warm (and flexible!). Oh that little foot!

Adorable! I remember when the chimps first arrived, Jody used to do yoga on a big ball. In fact, she was so consistent to doing this pose that I put it in the sanctuary illustration in A Chimpanzee Take! I wish I were so limber!
