If we were to do a poll of the caregivers, or you all reading this (if you’ve been following a long for a bit), I would be willing to put good money down that Negra would be chosen as the chimpanzee at CSNW most likely to be found nesting.
Who do you think would be the second runner up?
I’m going to go with Jody. Is that what you thought?
There is no question that Negra and Jody know how to truly relax. Here are two of my favorite photos of them demonstrating their lounging prowess.
Negra:
Jody:
This morning was another GORGEOUS fall day, and most of the chimpanzees headed right outside, literally disappearing into the hill:
You will probably be able to guess who remained under her blanket, though (thanks to Earth Rated for donating these green lovely blankets to the chimps!):
If you guessed Negra, you would be correct.
Jody, despite her love of leisure, does like a morning adventure, so she went out, then back to the greenhouse, then out again, until she finally came back with a procured bamboo snack:
She stopped at the raceway to keep an eye on the other adventurers:
By the time lunch rolled around, Negra too was ready to emerge from her cocoon and soak up the fall air:
The addition of baked pumpkin to the lunch forage may have played a motivating factor:
It’s so satisfying to be able to see the chimpanzees making choices about how they spend their time. I’m glad that everyone got outside and enjoyed this beautiful day and also fit in a little quiet time for napping too.

I really love how you all love the chimpanzees.

Thank you for saying that, Maureen!

Today was dreary, cold, and rainy so these photos warmed me from the inside out. Looks beautiful on Young’s Hill today, a perfect day for bamboo, baked pumpkin, and a good snooze. I always enjoy seeing their hair glistening in the sunshine.
(Thank you Earth Rated for helping to keep the chimps cozy and sung in their sanctuary home!)

Beautiful blankets donated by Earth Rated. I love hearing about donations from local farmers and others who go out of their way to deliver or donate things needed in quantity by the chimps. The picture of Negra in the red kiddy pool is priceless.

We really are so lucky to have so many generous people out there who donate items to make the chimpanzees’ lives that much better!

It’s so hard for me to say anyone’s name but Annie…However, on this one..Negra takes the vote from me. Their all beautiful as u know Diana. Love them all. Your staff is amazing too. Bless all of you…

I have to say Diana, the pic of Annie nesting on her page.. she has her left knee up and her left arm across her chest. Remember my shoulder surgery? When I was looking at her pics..I was laying just like her. I was laughing so hard…my poor Eddy took off. He’s hanging in there. That was too much movement for him tho. I needed that laugh tho. As u understand 🙂
Diana says
Victoria – you’re right, Annie also does a really good job of lounging! 🙂

The picture of Jody is so good. It shows someone who really knows how to relax with class. Love them all.

These images of Negra and Jody are so beautiful (indeed, they are both so beautiful). After the events of
today and this past week/year/decade/century, is there any chance that the CSNW might be able to spare a small
portion of land as a refuge for human primates? If you permit me to move in, I promise to follow all of the
Boss’s commands and demands.
Diana says
You’re not the first person to ask this. Maybe we should have a human sanctuary on the grounds too for all of the wonderful supporters who would like a safe spot to live. Certainly agreeing to follow Jamie’s rules would be a prerequisite! We might have to acquire some more land…

I love all the chimps, each one is fo unique. But lately Negra is trying new things. I love her clumping watching everything going on in the yard. But my favorite in the morning with the blanket over her head. She has come a long way. It might have taken her a while to get use to adjusting. But finally she seems like she’s having fun atlradt when she’s napping.
