Sometimes just looking at photos of the chimpanzees takes my breath away.
Even though I’ve known them for over a decade, I love being able to study their features and the different expressions that the camera captures in a given moment.
Black and white photos can be all the more breathtaking.

They are so beautiful ?

these are spectacular. you are catching their individuality so wonderfully.
Kathleen says
I agree with you Diana, looking at photos of the chimps takes my breath away too. Everyday their images surprise me, they make me sigh out loud, they make me smile, oftentimes make me laugh out loud, and sometimes bring tears to my eyes. This particular black and white grouping exposes little glimpses into the chimps individual personalities. Just beautiful, especially those two images of Foxie.
Barbara Bucy says
The last picture of Foxie is so beautiful. It breaks my heart knowing what she went through before sanctuary but also makes me so happy because her life is so wonderful now.
Tobin says
In the absence of colors outside of the black-white spectrum, the photographs seem to compel the
viewer to look ever more closely (or, perhaps, deeply) into the subjects. In these portraits, I find myself
especially drawn to the eyes of Foxie, Burrito and Missy; what, I wonder, are they thinking and feeling at
the moment that the photograph is recorded? I am continually fascinated by them and their neighbors. In the process of evolution, the primate species which didn’t devolve into human animals maintained their brains, beauty, and integrity.
Chris says
As always Tobin, you write so eloquently my sentiments exactly! And yes, that last photo of Foxie is exquisite. Her eyes are so beautiful but can only give us a glimpse of her soul. Such beauty and intelligence.
