The maiden voyage

April 24, 2018 by Anna

The chimps still love their newest structure! Today it was the first thing they investigated during their early morning excursion and Jamie has been taking breaks on her perimeter walks to climb and sit on it. Here’s a video from Sunday of their very first outing on the structure after they patiently waited for our amazing volunteers to finish up construction.

Yippee for Annie, first to the top! Can’t forget how fearful she used to be, afraid to venture out on Young’s Hill — my oh my how far she has come. And look at Burrito too! Honestly, my hearts bursts when I think back on all the achievements made by each chimp through the years. Thank you for creating all these wonders and opportunities.

I could watch this video a dozen times It makes my heart sing. And if I feel that joyous, I can’t imagine how JB and all those who worked so may hours with backbreaking labor to set it up must feel. I hope all the volunteers were present for the first big rush to the new structure. Thanks for sharing this with us

What works of art: the M.C. Escher-esque contraption, and grace movements of the Cle Eluminaires up, down, and around the structure. Well done, CSNW!
