Not Your Typical Day

January 7, 2018 by Kelsi

Today was not our typical lazy Sunday at CSNW. After the chimps received access to the Hill everyone was out with Jamie, well everyone except Negra… Foxie was especially gleeful this morning. Foxie invited staff Caregiver Katelyn for a fun game of flip and hang upside down while tickling her with her doll, which I mean who could say no to that! Foxie is always playful and has the craziest moves, but today she put it all out on the dance floor. Check out the video to see Foxie’s moves.

Bonus photos of Foxie on Young’s Hill yesterday (photo credit to Diana, they were just to good to not share):

Annie looks so content with her bucket of snow and sun on her shoulders. What a dear girl to share with her friends. That’s what family is all about. I will have a lovely eve of Christmas Eve knowing Annie, Missy, Jody, Foxie, Negra, Jamie, and Burrito are safe and so well loved.

Happy Christmas to everyone at CSNW! Thank you for giving so much every single day to these deserving chimpanzees. XOXOXO

Hi Donna, great question! Foxie had a few small scratches. Unfortunately, the chimps over groom their wounds, sometimes making it look worse than it is. We check the scratches everyday and use an antiseptic spray on it. Foxie is doing very well!

Has Foxie been in a fight lately?

Sharing a treat with friends always makes it more enjoyable. Merry Christmas to all the chimps and the wonderful people that care for them.

What a beautiful story! Every time a chimp goes on the twister, I am sure Willy knows and smiles down on them. It is such a great gift for all of the chimps. They can look into the distance to make sure a ruval community is about to invade! To all of you at CSNW, to Diana and JB for their leadership, and to the magnificient 7, Merry Christmas and a healthy New year filled with pant hoots and joy! karen and don

What you describe as “winking and sparkling” sounds like February to me. In November, December and January, the sun in Finland stays so low above the horizon, that it fails to create that kind of glimmer, and when it does in February, it is the first sign of the forthcoming spring. It is also the first month when sunshine is strong enough to melt the surface of snow a little bit and create icy pearls on top. That is why February is called “helmikuu”, the pearl of months, in Finnish. Air temperature may melt snow, though, long before the sun does, especially close to the coastlines. But when it’s cold enough, the snow can stay soft and fluffy for weeks on end — until February, when a crust of ice on top of snow surely begins to form. In March, the spring is well on the way, then. I wonder if you ever have had snow staying all soft and fluffy for a longer than a day or two?

What a beautiful memory the Twister brings, now for all of us. I too believe that Bill is right there, climbing to the top with his pals and racing about in shenanigans. Merry Christmas to everyone at CSNW — Caregivers, Volunteers, Friends, and Supporters and Happy Days forever to Missy, Annie, Jamie, Jody, Brave Burrito, Foxie and Negra. ??

I agree that Bill is there watching the chimps as they play and have fun. Merry Christmas to all the friends of CSNW for helping the chimps to have a good life. Merry Christmas to the magnificent 7. May they have a wonderful fun filled day.
