Burrito Chimpanzee in Black and White

January 31, 2018 by Diana

Continuing with the black and white/grey theme from Saturday, and thanks to comments on that blog post, I decided to truly embrace this way of seeing and capturing images by setting the camera to monochrome and finding out what might happen.

I had to climb a ladder in the greenhouse to get these photos, but Burrito willingly served as the most handsome subject anyone could hope to have.

I might just be in love with black and white.

Burrito wears it well.

You caretakers have such patience, self-sacrificing, generous with your time and love. A very special breed of people. Loved this minute-to-minute description with words and pictures of what the New Years Celebration was like. Such lucky chimps to have you all

Get Out of Town!!! SO worth the climb Diana! Mr. B is a photographer’s (an an artists) dream model. I keep staring at those eyelashes in the first photo. 😊 Oh is he ever perfectly, adorably, charmingly handsome! I love you dear Burrito….

Hi Diane, “YakTrax” are kind of like chains for your feet. 🙂 They are ice-traction devices for the bottoms of your shoes. You can see them on the bottom of Jamie’s boot in the photo. She loves all the “bells and whistles” that come with winter footwear.

Crying! Okay, that last one is a KILLER. These black and whites would look fabulous reproduced large. Sell them beautifully framed for megabucks at your next fundraiser. Really. Very very classy.

Wow! What a great New Year’s Eve and day! I just LOVE that the chimps made a very clear choice — we’re comfy and we ain’t moving. That was me over the entire holiday, -40 Celsius up here. Not sure what this in Fahrenheit. So it’s pretty darn impressive that Foxie ventured outside, in snow and ice and with a low sun, too. It must have been bitterly cold. I’m just wowed by that. They clearly love their sanctuary home in their own ways. All of you must have been busting your britches with happiness. Yeah, some inconvenience, but wow a true show of independence and free will.

And you folks made it happen. Happy New Year!!! to all of you: Diana, J.B., the Board, Katelyn, all the helpers and carers, the people that drop off extra fresh food for the chimps, all the supporters, of course, and mostly importantly, Missy, Jamie, Foxie, Annie, Burrito, Jody and Negra. My heroes.
