The Iconic Negra

December 30, 2017 by Diana

This morning I took this photo of Negra:

It’s not the greatest quality because i took it with my somewhat outdated phone.

It got me thinking about this photo that I took last week while Negra sat in the same spot eating a pomegranate:

For fun, I did a search for photos labeled with the words “Negra” and “arms crossed” and I found some of my favorite photos of this iconic queen of the sanctuary. Enjoy!

Negra sit on platform arms crossed

Negra heavy lip with eyes closed

I hope that you are having a Negra kind of a day – resting comfortably and just being yourself. And I hope you’ll take a moment to support Negra and her friends before midnight tomorrow by making a donation towards our $20,000 year-end goal. We’re about 40% of the way there so far!

Oh my beautiful Negra! So endearing the way she crosses her arms. The first photo almost looks like a painted portrait the way the light hits her lovely face. It’s a beautiful of her. And I want to tickle her beautiful butter belly in photo #7. It’s all in her pouty bottom lip, who can resist?!

Beautiful photographs of a beautiful soul and body. As for the fourth photograph from the top, I remember last summer in the Minneapolis Central Public Library telling a friend of mind about the sanctuary. He’s kind of a tough guy, but as I showed him the CSNW website, this very photograph of Negra appeared on the computer screen. “Awwww,” the words escaped his lips, “she’s adorable!”

So she is. Even so, as I recall from watching her tickle Burrito in a video taken on Christmas morning, she might want to ease up a tad when (as it appeared on the video) she was (playfully?) pounding Burrito’s head onto the floor. After all, she has at least seven times the physical strength of the average human primate, and, besides, he’s missing a front tooth…

Great picture of Jamie and her boots. It looks like Negra will be enjoying carrots and dill for lunch.
