A different doll for Foxie!

October 7, 2017 by Anna

Foxie goes through phases where she takes special interest in one of her dolls. When it’s not being tossed playfully to caregivers, this purple haired doll has been by her side for weeks:

It’s pretty different than her usual loves, not a Dora or a troll doll, but something that we’ve never seen before. After a little bit of investigation, we found out that she’s a Strawberry Shortcake doll! We’re excited for Foxie to be branching out a little bit and for all the fun shopping that comes with it (this doll has friends with many different colors of hair after all)!

It seems Foxie likes dolls with wild color hair. That is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, but all the chimps seem to have an obsession like with socks, boots, food, etc. That makes them so unique that you always want to see what their up to next. Now back to Foxie’s doll maybe she should be called Foxie#2.

Have yโ€™all ever considered getting her a doll that mostly looks like a baby chimpanzee? The dolls are expensive but Iโ€™d love to see how it affects her psychologically. Have yโ€™all tried it? I would hope it would be therapeutic for her. Thank you, Pam

      Hi Pam!

We actually have tried that, and many of the chimps (Foxie included) like to violently dismember those kinds of dolls. Alas, Foxie likes what Foxie likes ๐Ÿ™‚

Perhaps it is only too clear to them that a chimp doll is not the real chimp baby, which may only reignite anguish for the moms or, it would appear, all of them. After all, they’re not stupid. If they love troll dolls, let them have troll dolls, say I! Besides, they are much more colorful to look at!! Purple was my favorite color as a kid, so I get why Foxie’s loving this one.

Does anybody know if chimps have the same color cones as humans? Do they see all the colores that we do?

Chimps can see color, similar to humans, from what science says ๐Ÿ™‚

That looks like a well loved doll. Who wouldn’t love her hair!?

Well, at least you can certainly spot her very easily out there with that purple haired doll! ๐Ÿ™‚ Do they also tear up stuffed animals? If so, maybe they think there may be treats inside! ๐Ÿ™‚
